I get 22-23 in city, and that includes lots of stop and go in the DFW area on city streets with "normal" driving. Out on the highway I get 27-30 without babying it all.

As far as people getting worse, I don't know. Perhaps they're still learning where to shift, or they're driving really hard.

As far as the tiny motor comment, I don't perceive any struggle whatsoever in getting the car moving or keeping it moving. I think in other threads, that's been proved a moot point.

All of that to say - I'm happy with my MPG and no idea why others have an issue.

I don't know why everyone is talking about the size like it is astronomically high. This isn't some 4,000lbs GT500 guys. It literally weighs about 250lbs more than the Mazdaspeed 3 this car is so frequently compared too, but has 50 more horsepower. The Ecoboost is still a good compromise of performance and economy.

I think it has to do with people keeping it in boost too much, what's in their car, extra lbs, their packages, etc. Also doesn't help it's cold right now.

Also don't forget, there are lots of factors involved in MPG.

You know what's more important that miles per gallon? Smiles per gallon. And I'm sure the Ecoboost delivers well there. Nobody can frown while in boost.

Oh I'm sure...but it is worrisome that we're definitely seeing a bunch saying their MPG isn't as good as they thought.

I know that some GT owners are smiling even more that their GTs are getting high 20's on the highway...way more then what EPA has listed.

I've seen GT's saying Mid 20s.

(I should also mention my comments above are in a MT EB. But, I have the 3.55 gears and don't do much freeway driving and my mileage is better than my '14 EB Fusion)

Our Jeep Grand Cherokee with the V6 is by 24 MPG mixed driving. My Ford Mustang EcoBoost has in the moment the same MPG. But I am not driving a lot in the moment and I am sure it comes down anyway. Filling up today gas after 300 km and the fuel gauge shows 1/2 tank. So the MPG is wrong or my fuel gauge.

All of the options provide smiles per gallon :D.

This could potentially change after engine break-in (EB increase / GT decrease) but it is intriguing that it contradicts some of their commonly known "advantages" / "disadvantages".

Check out this related article for some good points: http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1082165_do-small-turbo-engines-really-give-better-gas-mileage

Thanks - Yeah man, I would be down to hang out sometime. Brent was telling me about a meet up location for all motorheads in the area which I might scope out.

Otherwise we could  in the area.

Any average mpgs for regular steady longer-distance 65-75 mph for your EB? Driving at 70 requires a lot more power than at 55. I was wondering just how much the turbo has to work
moving along at freeway speeds. My ordered EB will be mostly a long distance driver.
My 3/4 ton pickup gets only about 6-7 mpg in city driving but about 17-18 mpg at constant 70 mph. That's a triple increase.

Yah from what I've seen, seems like the GTs at least are getting great MPG when they are above 65. For the EB to be at that, I would assume it would have to work a tad harder..but not really sure about that.

I don't have an auto EB, but in my manual EB, I've easily achieved 32 mpg highway at speeds between 65-70 mph. Haven't done much steady 75 mph driving yet -- I'm sure it'll be a bit less at that speed.

Based on other's MPG reports, I think my car might be a bit of an outlier on the MPG bell curve -- I seem to be getting fairly decent MPG's in my car, better than the EPA numbers. Then again, I may be taking it a little easier than some of the other forum members. Who knows.......

Have you actually calculated your mileage? Check it with next fill up and reset trip meter. And remember, the advertised mileage is under ideal conditions, without ac, no boost, maximum tire pressure ...etc. if you reset your counter, and drive with maximum fuel efficiency in mind, you'll get better mileage. ..but what fun is that? ;)

If you like the posted MPG keep in mind how car companies archive them. Not faster than 90 kph. 1 person with a certain weight. Top weather and so on. All has nothing to do with real life at all.
