I'm at 4200 and will do my first oil change in the next couple weeks. I just bought some pennzoil ultra platinum. Oil capacity says 5.7L in the manual. Filter I'm just using the stock recommended motorcraft FL-910-S

I just hit 500 miles on mine
Read somewhere that the factory fill is thin black nastyness - just trying to gauge where everyone is with their first change and what their choices of oil were...

thank you for posting

factory fill is motorcraft 5w-30 synthetic blend. Not the best but not bad oil, really hope it doesnt look that bad when i drain it out, would wish I had done it sooner haha

What made you choose German Castrol 0W-30 specifically?

I'm not anal about oil, so for what it's worth:

Mobil 1 5w30
6 qts.
motorcraft FL 400S
4137

When I changed the oil in my FiST at 500 and 1.5k, there was a shocking about of metal flake in the oil. Something to keep in mind...

I've ran it in almost all of my cars. It's one of the absolute best oils on the market. Plus, the 0W-30 can help out some in colder climates (it was in the negative teens here a lot this past winter).

I changed my oil at 3k miles. Oil was NASTY (Black and like water) In hind sight I wish I would have changed the oil the day I drove it home from the dealership.

Castrol Edge Titanium
6 quarts (manual says 5.7 but 6 quarts hit the full line perfectly)
Wix filter 51348XP

I'm thinking of changing to Amsoil at 6k miles.

I might go M1 or Penn Ultra down the road. Never use royal purple micropolishing=sanding your internals down.

*if oil is black and nasty...that means its probably good oil because its doing its job of cleaning atleast.

Same here, except I did mine last weekend, at about 550 miles.

First at 1000 and switched to mobil 1 and mobil 1 filter. Then dealer did it at 6k miles and I paid for full synthetic and Ford filter. Next one will be either redline or amsoil.

You really think Ford's factory fill is of less quality than they recommend for an oil change? Read your owners manual, the answers are really there.
