I've looked at lots of threads and seen everyone does straight E85 or no E85. I never really thought about it but I got rid of my 2012 335i with upgraded stage 2 turbo and full bolt ons. Car made 501 hp to the wheels. It was turned on half E85 and half 93. I didnt see any, but didnt really look, but most guys ran a blend instead of full e85. Just a curious thing to notice.

A NA GT will do 500+ to wheels with upgraded headers (a little less just stock) and E85. You can run Flex also but it's not as aggressive on the low end timing.

What were the reasons the 335i runs mixed? Usually the more E the better.

Probably because most of the well known tuners on the S550 are pretty conservative in the "flex fuel" tunes and are more agressive on E85 only tunes. If you have good access to E85 why run a blend? If your catless straight E85 smells 1000X times better, that's my favorite thing about E85.

I did not have the car but 8 months, so honestly I just followed what the proven path was since parts are expensive for that thing. I was out of the performance game a long time before my BMW so even using E85 was new to me as a mix. If any of you guys were around way way back on Corral or Modular Mustangs I was probably the only guy that got a full Induction Concepts kit before I guess he disappeared with lots of peoples Money. After that I got my speed addiction taken care of with my DiSalvo Daytona 675. Now I'm back on 4 wheels.

What do you have to do to the car to safely run E85? I have a station 2 miles from me that sells E85- and I know it's not that readily available.

You need to be tuned for it. The A/F ratio has to be correct to run it but several tuners provide E85 tunes. On your 2018, you can use stock injectors so no changes necessary except the tune.

It it worth tuning for E85 if you don't plan to do headers?

I have a handful of BMW buddies. The reason they always have to run a blend is because their fuel system isn't able to support full e85 with full bolt ons.

Aftermarket headers have nothing to (car has factory headers) do with running a e85 tune. Is 6 tenths and 5 mph faster in the quarter worth it to you? That was the difference between stock tune and e85 tune on exact same (same color) optioned 18 GT a10 pp1. Lol.

We are almost complete with our flex fuel tune. We have straight e85 on 18-19 GT but already have 15-17 flex fuel so you can run either 93 or e85 or whatever mix of. I will post again when the flex fuel is available but straight e85 is no problem. My name is Jake message me if you have any questions or call me at 313-561-5500

Out here in Az we only have 91 octane or e54. Would a flex fuel tune allow me to use either one? Or either mixture of the 2?

Wow, Corral and Modular..that takes me back. Corral is so full of pop ups and ads, I never go there any more. It used to be my go to. Safer on 4 wheels, had a GSR1000... scary fun but people around me driving were scarier lol.

Thanks. Not even looking to go faster at this point, but trying to decide on a tune or no tune CAI. First mustang and first brand new car, so I’m Thinking no tune and yea to warranty!

Read up more. Aftermarket cai’s do not help much. Just pop out your hydrocarbon trap and run a dry flow filter. E85 is a mini power adder.

A CAI wouldn't be worth it without a tune unless you are looking for under hood dress (not a bad thing). Biggest performance gains are E85, headers, then forced induction. Or some work to keep hop in check and nice tires. Perhaps tires first if being logical.
