Has anyone actually ever used the two side caps? I tried once when it was a day old, spent about 15 minutes fiddling with it, and gave up. They remain in the plastic bag in my trunk.

Nope, in the plastic and staying there, problem is if you are driving and it starts raining the car will get very wet, while you are trying to unclip them
The S187 never had them, really can't see the point of them

Well living in SoCal, it hardly ever rains. You do have to unclip them but, that is a slight pull and off they come. They have small magnets that won't let you put the top up with them in place which is good. The six seconds up is great!.

If I travel a long distance or I know my top will be down for awhile, I will use them. It takes me all of 30 seconds to install them and removing is much quicker. And if it starts to rain during a top-down drive, it's really not a big issue to remove them. I am pulled over anyway....

Open it all the way and close it all the way. It's so easy a Camero could do it.

I have used mine twice. They look nice, but are too much trouble to fool with.
Almost as worthless as my cooled seats that the dealer tell me are working correctly. :headbonk:

Installed them one time, when I was using 303. Applied to them, cruised a bit, put them back in the plastic. Haven't had the out since....

Yes! This ^^. I used to put the caps on when going on long drives, but now I just don't care for them at all. Sometimes I may be riding and just want my privacy again and just want to put the top back up at a red light as opposed to pulling over and getting out of the car (or stretching from the driver seat).

Also, my cooled seats are worthless as well. Doesn't even work as nearly as good as the heated ones. I thought they cooled/heated your ass and your lower back, but apparently it's just the ass.

I used them once, I've left them in the trunk since.

As for the cooled seats, mine works! I felt it blow at the upper back the other day. It's not a huge thing but it's there. *however* I also had the AC on too. I've noticed that the seats work better with the AC on.
But my car only has ~4500 miles on it.

I had a 2013 Lincoln MKZ leased new and returned at 38000 miles and at first the ac seats worked great but later on it seemed to not work as well in the back area. Maybe the perforated holes get clogged with dirt/grime? Who knows.

We have them on our Explorer and there is a filter under the seat. If that wasn't replaced or cleaned, perhaps that's the reason for the decreased performance.

My seat and seat backs work fine. But I don't wear business attire anymore. Its T-shirts and shorts. I will look for that filter though just to be aware of it.

As for the locking handle I leave it open when putting the top down. It isn't an issue, so I don't overthink it.

The end caps are for showing the car, at least to me. When I park at a show or car event with the top down I'll put those on. It looks cleaner and it keeps some little brat from dropping a toy or something worse in the boot when no one's looking.
