All cars come with Advancetrac (stability control) and traction control.

For base cars press trac button once leave advtrac on and turns the trac control off. Pushing twice quickly (sport mode) leaves both on but turns down the sensitivity. At a stop push brake and hold button for 8secs turns everything off.
Question: Does the car reset after turning off, or does it 'remember' your last setting when restarting?

(auto owners don't take this personal!)

This is the first Ford I have owned in 20 years and the first Mustang since my first car at 16 (a 1970 w/302) I have been a Corvette and Mercedes guy. I decided I wanted another Mustang Vert after I bought my son a 2011 V6 Vert because it was just so much fun.

Since I am an old man, and my wife and boys would probably be driving the new Stang, I thought the best route was the Auto. I have had 3 Corvettes (2003, 2005, 2014 Stingray) and it did not make a big difference in them, they were rockets off the line any way you did it.

I actually had decided to buy the 2016 GT Vert before I had even driven it. When I went to buy my car i went to two dealers, one had a 6-speed and one had a Auto...the rest was basically the same.

The auto was the worst POS I have ever driven in a sports/muscle car. I was so put-off, I decided I was not going to buy ANY mustang. I was crushed, I had the trade-in ready, I had the check book...I WAS READY TO BUY!!

Then, to be 100% certain, I went to the dealer with the same car only with a 6-speed......heaven. I simply could not believe they were the same car with the same engine. I literally drove it for 45 seconds and knew I was buying it.

Now I had driven a new S550 Vert, just not a GT. In Vegas I rented a V6 Vert auto and was very impressed. If I had to buy an auto, I would save the 15K and buy the V6.

No offense taken at all here.

This is a perfect example of how each person's experience is entirely subjective and going off other's opinions on the internet when making high dollar purchase decisions should be taken with a grain of salt.

BTW: My experience test driving the auto and manual was the exact opposite from yours...

Honestly, when I was shopping for a replacement for my '05 that died (was manual), I really wanted another manual; however, because of financial constraints, I was shopping for a used '15, and couldn't find a manual V6 in my area. So, I 'settled' for the auto.

Man, this car is so much fun to drive. In Sport mode, it's really a blast, and the paddles are fun on the highway.

I didn't drive any GTs, so I don't know about them but, for the V6, auto is a real pleasure.

100% agree. I heard alot of hate from the Corvette crowd on my two automatic vettes. Something like 80% of all Corvettes are sold with an automatic.

Obviously, for a stick to even be an option, you have to enjoy cranking your own gears. My best friend hates sticks, he thinks the are a PITA and can't for the life of him figure out why ANYONE would want a stick.

^^^ This is where this comment ends for me. This has to be the most ridiculous thing I've read on these forums in a while.

So your opinion is the Mustang auto trans is a POS. Helpful info

Really? OP didn't like the auto GT and purchased a manual GT; simply mentioned that he drove an auto V6 vert and said "If I had to buy an auto, I would save the 15K and buy the V6".

Personally, for me, I spent $25K and got a vehicle (used '15 v6 vert) that looks great and is great to drive. I don't race in the street, and don't go to the track; why should/would I pony up (no pun intended) $15-20K more?

Not really sure what makes it so ridiculous.

So the first comment was " The auto was the worst POS"

Then in the same statement "I rented a V6 Vert auto and was very impressed"

So, take out 135hp and the auto is impressive. ridiculous!

And personally I can careless what car you buy and what your reasons are for buying a v6, I4 or whatever. Calling a trans a POS then saying he is impressed by the v6 auto but not the v8 auto?? It's the same 6 speed automatic transmission.

Yes, you are Brilliant! But what you fail to grasp is that that same automatic transmission completely mutes that extra 135HP. Starts were sluggish, shifts were too quick to maximize the torque curve, and you needed to jack around with the driving mode and shift paddles just to make it livable. Ford is not known for great transmissions and the GT just magnifies its flaws. However, it is perfectly suited for the V6.

As I stated, I never compared them (auto in V6 vs. V8), I just happen to like mine.

OP has driven both and gave his opinion, have you driven both?

Also, maybe there was something wrong with the auto V8 he test drove.

Lol... The whole point of the auto, especially with 3.15s is the fact that the car in D will be more livable and very conservative. Turning to sport and track modes is the whole point of going with an auto and still having performance options. If flipping a simple toggle swith to sport or track to change the entire driving experience is too much, I don't know how you get by driving a stick.

I drove a base model GT auto with what I assume had 3.15 gears before buying my premium with 3.55s. The base didn't feel near as strong to me.
