Made my case for the new carpet. It’s being passed to the service manager for authorisation, will see what they come back with.

Will certainly give him/her an earful if they turn down the request

The saga continues...

Ford warranty will not approve a new carpet but have agreed to remove it & dry it properly. Not happy with that, but as an immediate fix, it will have to do. They have offered a full valet as well.

Have to wait until next Monday (5th) however to take it in, as the piece of rubber trim they tore is not in until the end of this week.

I do however have a courtesy car this time round so makes it a little easier.

Not sure how I feel about all of this & the speed at which it's being done. I feel a full on rant to Ford CS coming on but will save that for another day.

I used to have a rattle it wasn't actually from my speakers one of the blue retaining clips for the window control panel had broken whilst driving (eff knows how, and part of it was rattling around. Found it when I removed them to be carbon dipped.
That rattle, did it happen all the time or was it random? Did it seem to be worse when the driver window was partially open?

It was pretty constant, no difference with window open and closed should be alright.

Ford just like to do things the long way don't they Kris.

Yep, they sure do. I think there's a factor of them being too busy & not applying the right time & effort to do things properly.

FWIW my speaker is consistently buzzing too, regardless of window position. Depends on what is coming out of the speakers though. I'll be spending some time selecting a good song to demonstrate!

I managed to figure out what the buzzing is today...its the circular "cushion" thing at the top of the door by the hinges. The plastic insert bit with the hole in.

With the door closed, this vibrates a little. I can live with that, may ask for it to be replaced when I drop the car off on Monday but it's not a big issue.

I'm sure most of you are sick of my updates but here it is nonetheless...

Feeling more & more frustrated by the whole experience, I called and spoke to the service manager to vent a bit. I don't think it had much of an impact tbh other than putting it on his radar, and they are still not willing to replace the carpet.

One thing as well I called them out on is that they didn't bother to put any petrol back in after having driven it to/from their body shop which is a ~40 mile round trip.

Just want it fixed now so I can enjoy it again, it's fucking depressing when I look at it on the driveway at the moment - it's broken in my eyes. Windows still steaming up because of the moisture in the carpet.

Had a quick drive around this afternoon & I'm reasonably confident whatever they did to my clutch has improved things slightly. Still going to dig for info when I'm back in there on Monday though.

So sorry to hear the saga continues. I had hope my experiences with this dealership were limited but now we know.

Unless the work is routine and clear, it seems that their mechanics (and many others) are in the dark. This is down to poor recruitment and/or poor training. At the premium hourly rates dealers charge, neither of these should be true.

Poor communication and courtesy is completely inexcusable as well. The google reviews of this dealership show this is endemic.

I’ve had repeated problems with our local Mercedes and Peugeot dealerships too. They largely have a captive market, especially with the number of leased cars around.

I just got back from taking the carpet out... I can now officially assure you it's a PITA!!!
Either you cut the carpet in 2 places or you take the complete dash out with airco & radiator hoses etc... etc... what way would you choose?

Ill try to do a more detailed write up with pictures later today, but first I need some coffee and a power-nap as I'm exhausted!

Interesting, thanks for the feedback. I have a bad feeling Ford Guildford haven't had to do this before & somehow they will f*ck it up!

I know v8_motor's dealership managed this in a few days, so I'll make sure my dealership liaises with them so they get it right.

It was a first time for my dealership as well.

Funny though, we couldn't' find anything about removing the carpet in the service manual.

Car collected again today, 2 weeks after the last collection.

I'm now happy that Think Ford Guildford have done the best they can with drying the carpet - they didn't remove it though. I'm confident as well that the leak is fixed, but time will tell.

Still a bit miffed that V8_Motor had his carpet removed immediately so I will follow that up with Ford.

After my little moan at the service manager, I also left with £30 extra fuel in the tank which was nice.

interesting note - had an oil/filter change whilst it was there. Oil life has dropped to 90% already, only covered a couple hundred miles. I believe they did run an update to take care of this but still, 10% has gone awfully quickly.

Yes, it's this again. Discovered today that the carpet is wet - steamy windows being the giveaway.

Don't really wanna discuss it, I'm taking it up with Ford customer services but I didn't wan't to put this in another thread

Needless to say I'm fricking fuming
