Wow! It never even occurred to me to set up a MyKey for the specific purpose of trips to the service department... That's brilliant!! Thanks for the idea!
I just wish you could set a rev limiter ugh! Seems the best you can do is set max speed of 65 mph, doesn't prevent people from getting in my car and revving the piss out of it :(

Thanks to the OP and you can add my brand new 2017 to the list. Left rear also and looks exactly like the pictures here. It happened in the first 400 miles.

You can add my 2016 R to this list. Had less than 200 miles when I saw the same thing.

I really hope this doesn't end up being a recurring issue. Thanks for reporting that you all had the same issue though!

Finally got my car fixed after the first two axles were damaged in shipping to the dealer. I saw the CV boot and there was no damage or tears. Looks like the clamp failed to hold the boot properly. Not sure why. In at 8am and on my way home by 12pm.

I like to disassemble things.
Got the car back fixed, way quicker than I expected. I'm happy with the dealer I chose to take the car to! They told me in the end it was around $650~ in labor and parts. Considering we have unique half-shafts that Ford only sells as a complete unit (can't buy CV boots separate for instance), I'm pretty surprised it was so cheap. Granted my only point of reference is a $15k~ warranty job I had done with my last car (09 GT-R)!

From the paper work it looks like they replaced a rear axle shaft assembly, some dust seal, and some fluid for the rear diff which they topped off. According to the MyKey, they drove the car 5.4 miles. They didn't keep it outside and listened to my request to not wash it (they would've run it through their automated wash). They seemed to have treated the car well, I looked it over pretty good when I picked it up.

Now back to getting those miles on!

Can you post up a copy of the service bill from Ford? I'd appreciate it as my driver side CV boot is suffering the same malady. I have ~2,000 miles on the car and didn't have this as of 200 miles ago. So this is early but I want to nip this one in the bud. The spew coated the inside of my wheel and that's how I noticed it.

2017 GT350. Purchased 08/29.

So I've been dealing with exactly the same issue. After finally getting the car home from the dealer and StickerCity for full clear bra PPF (with less than 150miles on the car) I decided to give the car a little clean and apply tire black. When I got to the driver side rear wheel i noticed the green grease inside the wheel. I knew, from reading this very thread, exactly what it was and just sighed. I called Galpin and arranged to take it in the very next day. They got it up on a lift and confirmed the split in the outer CV boot on the driver side drive shaft. It was left with them and they called me a few days later to say it had been done. They quickly sourced the part and replaced it fast. So I pick up the car and get it home. That evening I decided to give the wheel a clean because I noticed the green grease on the inside of the wheel again and thought that service had not properly cleaned the car after replacing the defective part. I jack up the car and remove the wheel... and notice that the new CV boot was torn as well. I was besides myself. I drove the car straight back to Galpin and left it again. They told me they would do whatever they could to get this problem resolved as quickly as possible and couldn't understand what was causing the problem. Well, they received the new part the next day... and after checking it they notice that the NEW PART had the same issue. Suffice to say they had many serious words with Michigan. Another part was sent the following day and after a thorough check it was put onto the car. I picked up the car and there have been no problems since (it's been about 4 days now).

Galpin have handled this as well as they possibly could. They looked after my car well and apologized for a situation beyond their control. I have been compensated adequately by Galpin and Ford directly for these issues on my brand new car.

Purchased 8/29?

And would you have a copy of the service bill from Galpin you could post up? I'm interested in the service commentary and subsequent parts list.

Now that's a dealer I know won't screw me. Where are they located?

He mentioned Galpin (Ford) and StickerCity, I'm assuming somewhere in Las Angeles, based on hearing about and seeing these places from YouTubers 'The Smoking Tire' and Salomondrin lol.

I'll try to scan and post the docs from my service later today.
