Can you post up a copy of the service bill from Ford?
I only scanned one of the pages, the other pages had items relating to the "multipoint" inspection dealers do and are irrelevant to the repair of the axle. I also blurred out the dealer/tech info and my personal info. I believe this contains everything you'd be interested in. Enjoy!

Now that's a dealer I know won't screw me. Where are they located?
Galpin Ford are the dealership, Sticker City did the wrap and black roof, and Sun Shield Auto Tints did my tints. All are great places with great after sales service! Galpin have been amazing helping get these "teething" issues dealt with which were all QC problems from Dearborn. I've been well looked after and compensated by Ford and Galpin.

They are all in the Van Nuys area of Los Angeles.

I had the same thing happen to my car. It went in and they ordered the part. It came in 2 weeks later and I scheduled the repair. I insisted they replace the pads on that side due to grease contamination. They agreed and put new pads in. The car sat there for 5 days because the axle came in with a torn boot  The second one was fine and I got the car back the next day.

It looks like there was some damage when the part was in transit or when installing. This is the original part:

The guys at Galpin also think that the boots were damaged either from factory or in transit. Either way, for a 500+ hp car that is designed to be tracked, these parts do seem a little flimsy. Luckily we have warranties... but it's still cause for concern.

Sammy thanks for posting the details. I was worried about the braking components having that grease on it, but I didn't request them to change the pads. I guess I should've.

After reading about all the trouble you all have had, I'm happy I haven't had the issue recur in the past 2500 miles!

GattmanLA great pics! I'm jealous of your car's color and the roads you have access to!

Thanks for taking the time to post these up guys. I'll post up my results after visiting the dealer tomorrow.

Well...You can now add mine to the list. Same drivers side. Although mine has 2900 miles on it, I do believe the grease has been there for a while. This was the first time I had taken the tire off since I got the car and it is smeared with grease on the inside.

My question is, are they replacing the axle with a new redesigned part or are you getting the same part which will ultimately lead to this same issue all over again months later?

Part didn't look to have been revised. Logic would have you think they'd address it somehow, quickly.

My replacement driver's side axle has not leaked yet. I've used it for 2700 miles so far. I may be putting 3,000 miles on the car next month. I'll definitely post back here if I run into this issue again.

Regarding the issue being more common on the driver's side, I learned recently that the axles are asymmetrical on our car (to reduce wheel hop, according to what I read). This could be why we're all seeing the issue on the driver's side?

Me Too

I noticed yellow grease heavily coating the inside of my left rear rim while getting a flat fixed Saturday. The grease was all over the suspension, too, but luckily not the brakes. The mess looked pretty much like kairojya's pictures on page 1. I cleaned everything up to be safe. I'll get my car to the dealer ASAP.

Just got back from my Service Department. They didn't see anything wrong with the boot. They said I should bring it back in if more grease shows up or if the CV starts making noise. They need proof to send to Ford in order to make a warranty claim. Guess I shouldn't have cleaned up the mess when I discovered it.
