Does the Normal, Sport, Track modes do anything for a 2019 GT Prem. with a 6 spd. manual?
The only thing I can think of is that you may have to switch to Track to enable line lock or launch control, and perhaps changes the steering mode also. Would there be any tuning changes?
I don't have my new Stang yet and my sales person just shrugs his head when I ask him the same question.

Yes, throttle response and stability controls change. Also, if you have magnaride, it changes the setting based on your drive mode (same with an active exhaust equipped car, though, that setting can be changed independently of drive mode, just like the steering feel).

I don't have PP1 or Magna Ride or Active Ex. Not sure how stability controls could change other than steering. Throttle response would be a nice extra!

Thanks Spork.

The manual does a good job of describing what the different drive modes are and what they do.

I might have to wait for the one provided with the car.
New to this forum, perhaps there already is a thread for owners manuals.
Does anyone have a link for a 2019 GT 6spd. manual?

Stability control kicks in when the car gets squirrely regardless of suspension. Basically it cuts power just like traction control.

So, I guess stability control is disabled in Sport or Track?

No, it's less present but still on. You can turn it off completely, the instructions are in the owner's manual.

In Sport mode the stability control allows slightly more sideways fun than in Normal, and Track allows even more than Sport. I have plenty of power oversteer fun in Normal mode so no big deal to me.

I think traction control (limiting wheelspin In a straight line) is disabled in Track mode but on otherwise.

In addition, both Sport and Track have a different throttle pedal map which makes the car feel faster for smaller gas pedal inputs (although its simply asking for more throttle sooner, nothing your foot cant do). Its exactly like a Pedal Commander device.

When I want to feel quick, Sport mode is fun for snappy response, but when I actually want to drive fast on a closed course, the Normal throttle map actually allows the most control and the smoothest driving at the limit. The throttle in sport/track is too twitchy IMHO for actual use on a road course, ironically.

Honestly, unless Im racing (and thus disabling all the nannies completely), I just leave the car in Normal mode 99% of the time these days.

Hey thanks for that Link HoosierDaddy. I should have known I could just go to the Ford website.

I find this info. looks like only 3 of the 5 benefits of drive drive modes apply to a manual shift tranny. I don't really see where you have to be in track mode to use line lock or launch control.

Selectable Drive Modes
Selectable drive modes deliver a customized driving experience using a variety of electronic vehicle systems. The systems optimize vehicle dynamics and powertrain response based on your selected mode. Systems associated with selectable drive modes are:

  • Electronically power assisted steering.See Steering.
  • Electronic stability control and traction control maintain your vehicle control in adverse conditions or high performance driving.See Stability Control.
  • Electronic throttle control enhances the powertrain response to your driving input.
  • Adaptive dampers (if equipped).
  • Active exhaust adjusts the sound characteristics of your vehicle (if equipped).
Thanks to all for the replies. Looking forward to driving this car.

Traction control is automatically turned off when you switch into Track Mode. After that, push up and hold the T/C toggle switch (2nd one from left, next to Hazard lights) for a few seconds and you will see a message in the IPC that your AdvanceTrac stability control was also be turned off. This setting will remain unchanged until you toggle between modes again or you shut the car off. It’s a noticeable difference with all driver assist features completely shut down.

@ Brian_S550 Thanks, nice to know you can override traction/stability control manually.
Nice wheels on your 15!

First thing I do with mine when I get in it is toggle it to Track mode so the traction control is off, and then turn the advance track off. With the Whipple it is so much more fun with all that stuff turned off, plus I like the throttle response best in track mode.

OK no one has mentioned this so...

Does the track or sport mode change the speed limiter settings?

Will 6th gear be allowed to reach redline? in any modes?
