So this year has been pretty rough. I had 5 surgeries in 3.5 months. 3 of those lead to me losing my hip and having total hip replacement at 27 years old. The other two were within about 2 weeks after having total hip replacement and they were the removal of my gallbladder and clearing stones from my bile duct. YAY.....
Long story short, I have always done 95% of my own work. I'm planning on doing the '18 intake manifold conversion with lockouts on my '15 GT PP as well as a PMAS CAI (tune required version). With that being said, these installs should be a cakewalk and my current range of motion with my hip shouldn't affect me getting the job done. I really don't want to cough up money for a simple install, but the main concern really comes down to if I can actually drive the car about 35 miles after the installation to the dyno. I have driven a cammed, headswapped, 2" headers and catless mids, and a CAI C6 Z06 90 miles one way to the dyno with zero issues (other than rough idle
) , but all cars/brands are different and I've seen people really complaining about start up, etc. after the swaps before tune.
Is there anyone that has done anything similar and was able to drive <45 minutes to a local dyno to be tuned? Or do ya'll think just let someone do the work at the shop that would be doing the tune since it might be 1-2 hours of work and maybe ~$150 labor?
