Why did you buy your steed? For the strip? For the track? For the open road at speed grand touring?

I've never been on a track (track, not strip), but I really want to, so I'll consider myself a wannabe track driver, and Grand Tourer.

I ask due to all the differences on this topic that are very evident in every thread.

And yes, you can vote more than one choice. Feel free to post anything more you'd like to add

Should've made an option for all of the above. I plan to do it all. Just got my car 3 weeks ago and just did an auto-x school. Also doing auto-x at the Goodguys car show in July. Planning to take it to the drag strip Memorial Day weekend. Will also do a track day sometime this summer. Of course I still want to enjoy it on the street and be able to take it for trips too. =)

Not much into drag racing. The thrill is too short. I've taken the Mustang 3 different times. I just can't get caught into microseconds, milliseconds of numbers. It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me unless you have people to sponsor and pay for it. Spending thousands to shave tenths of seconds is just not my thing.

Most of my miles are driving up the mountains throughout VA/WVA. I am addicted to the twist in turns on the public roads.

Track racing is something I've been wanting to do but just don't feel like putting the money into it. Maybe once my car is paid for but I just don't feel like the risk is worth it right now.

To find something cheap to replace my 2014 Nissan Sentra that felt like it was going to die everytime I went up a hill.

I voted for all three, although I have to admit heads up drag racing is thrilling to me. And yes, when in "Mexico" I at rare times will go from a light if challenged and no other Mexicans are around.

I'm doing the TrackDaze Test Drive on June 17th at Summit Point. You should try it out too!

I just checked that out. I think I'm going to do a FATT (Friday At The Track) instead. I want more instruction, as I'm certain I'm about 1/2 as good as I think I am.

The real problem, for me, is that I know a set of pads, possibly rotors, and tires will be gone afterwards. Plus track insurance (don't forget that!!), entry fee, etc. I need to set about $3k aside to do it right, if I spend less that's fine, but I bet I won't. Plus lodging and gas, etc.

That's why I'm doing the Test Drive. One 30 min session to drive behind a car (not at speed), then you have another 30 min session at speed with an instructor. I think it's a good way to get my feet wet and not go through a set of pads and tires. Oh, definitely getting the insurance!

Bought my S197 GT as a DD.
Next one will be a mix of GT and Drag strip. Maybe the occasional track day at Laguna Seca, Infineon, or Thunder Hill
