Heat the nut with a torch. also soaking it in penetrating oil may help.

Like above mentioned oil and heat but try putting the end of the bolt in a vise.

i assume you are putting an aftermarket downpipe, which will have thicker flanges, so you probably need to get that nut removed.

I would not try to smash that thing in a vise, unless you only get the tip, with the flats in it.. will not be good for the fastener, or the threads of the turbo housing.

Kroil is the thread penetrant I have been using for years. Heat from a torch should help too.

Look up double nutting or jam nut, you can put two nuts on the bolt and tighten them into each other.. than you should be able to hold the jam nut with one wrench and loosen the nut you cant get off.

Impact gun would make it easier too..

Hope this helps.

But heating with a torch while spraying penetrating lube is not recommended...

If you are reinstalling it with the same hardware just put it back in the way it came out.
BINGO!!! Don't take it apart...just put it back in. I run into this issue all the time with downpipes

Used to always happen on my GTI. I just put it back together like normal and never had an issue.

Does anyone know what the thread size is? I'm assuming it's metric ,maybe a M10 x 1.0?

Thread is M10 x 1.5.

Based on the damaged thread about 2/3 the way up the stud just replace it. Not worth the trouble if the nut galls in that spot when trying to remove. Don't ask me how I know this. Ford has a habit of not using anti-sieze on the exhaust bolts. I've fought this a time or two.
