Has anyone found any thing subtle to protect that sharp crease on the end of the door being opened-out onto another car, wall etc ? (I'm thinking some clear plastic moulding, but bending it around that sharp fold will be tricky.)

I have a mate coming over tomorrow to attach a sheet of rubber to my garage wall - it's going to be a tight fit so I need some sort of protection when I'm getting in and out.

My garage is 3000mm wide and 5500mm long - whereas the car is 2080mm wide (including mirrors) and 4783mm long.

As for out in the wild, I have no helpful suggestions although I don't plan on parking within cooee of anything if in any way possible.

My worst fear besides carparks is parking in my DLG next to my wifes Suzuki Swift... she is under no illusions to not open her door anywhere near Amelia!

But we all know how long that will last :(

Amelia, that your stands name? Cool. I would be curios as to how many others are naming their cars and what. Maybe that's a thread in itself.

I have a feeling mine is going to be a tighter fit then... 2750mm wide and 5850mm long... but I need to fit my 1m wide bike in the garage too... My Mustang doesn't arrive for 6-10 weeks so have a little more time to clean up

I ended grabbing a pool noodle from Kmart, cutting it down the middle with a hot knife and attacbing the pieces on my garage wall with glue. Given the pillar in there, it was the best way to cover. Already had ten or so marks showing what the damage could have been. :)

Went to Clark rubber and bought an off cut about 2" thick and glued it onto my existing foam lined sheet of mdf. The door is so sharp and pointy that you really need something really spongy to avoid scratching/denting it.

I took a long piece of soft Styrofoam type padding that I got off a TV packaging box, glued a piece of paper on one side so that I stick some Blu-Tack on it, and just stuck it on my wall.
No holes, no mess.

I've never named a car myself, but my XR6T was quickly dubbed "Serena" by my wife. Old Celica was called variously "the red slut" or "the red bitch" by my wife as she was under the impression that I cared about it more than her. Jealousy is a horrible thing. So I'm sure a Mustang will also be given a name. I hope it's nice ...

At least we're going with my naming suggestion for our child when it appears end of May/early June.

Yup, looks about right, but I ended up going with glue rather than screws as there was no straight surface to work on.

I have a pillar on one side and ducted vaccum on the other.

Will post some pics when I get home this evening.
