If I put an R splitter on my base GT350 Will it scrape more than the base lip? I am talking about a situation where I keep my 35 aspect ratio tires, not change to the 30 tires on Rs, which would lower the car.

I’ve been told it won’t because the R splitter is not as low as the base splitter so it has the same effective approach angle. Looking for validation on that before I spend $1300.

It sticks out more and flares left and right more. That would make it scrape more.
Are you replacing just the bottom piece or the whole thing?

You will have to more aware and it does affect approach angles for sure as well.

Whoever told you it won’t change the approach angle is misleading you. It is not simply height but extension. Since it protrudes further forward than the non R splitter it will contact sooner than one that is extended less. With the distance from wheel centerline that these cars have even at stock ride height, scraping in routine driving is a reality and an R splitter will require even greater caution.

Thanks all. I know it protrudes more - I've seen it in person. What I was told is that it doesn't drop as low as the base lip (perhaps because the 35 series tires raise the front of the car by 0.5") and so net-net the additional height cancels out the additional length. It sounds like that is the not the experience of the brain trust here. Thanks for the input.
