One of the reasons I didn't purchase a gt350 was because of the lack of HP and straight line performance. There is a good segment of people who buy mustangs and looking for straight line performance. Ford is going on 3 years without a response on this segment, meanwhile dodge is running away with it.

I know if the GT500 doesn't go after this segment, (I'm hoping), my next purchase will be the this type of car. Dodge gets it!

I didn't know people can get so worked up on a "number". I buy a car because of the package, I can care less about it making the most horsepower.

If the GT500 came out with 750hp and the Demon with 800 would you guys write off the GT500?

If the Demon has a better chassis, handling, and power than the GT500 I would be a serious buyer.

I'm not interested in buying one but am happy cars like this are even available to anyone who can afford one.

The naming from Dodge needs some revamping though, they are just trying to shoehorn old car names into one model. :p

Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.

What's next?

Dodge Charger SRT Super Bee

Dodge Challenger SRT Dart

You have to look at what is required to go fast in a straight line. If your looking for better handling and braking then HP and straightline is not as important.

HP numbers sell cars as well. The dealership and the sales guys standing in front of you can say, you have the most powerful car you can buy.. that says something.

While there are a great deal of enthusiast that care about weight to power, there is a LOT more who just look at hp and 0-60 times.

I'd rather have my GT350 with the same power but 600-800 pounds lighter. The hello kitty and chevette wouldn't touch it.

Just remove all but the driver seat from the interior, your doors, hood deck lid and cat-back system. That should get you pretty close. :headbang:

Straight line performance was important to me, as was handling, which is why modding will always fill that niche. I hope the Demon exceeds everyone's expectations; maybe then it will give me a reason to go E85.

I find it amusing that the last Dodge "Demon" was on a Dart and a Duster.

In the 1/4 mile? 526 hp, and 600 lbs lighter would be in 10's?

3200 lbs - 526 hp, that would be tough. Not to mention the mph to play with them on the freeway?

Agree, a total package is what I'm after. I like the way a car feels and handles...a driver's car. It's easy to stuff HP in any car.
I can't blame dodge for taking the market that is most desired and that is straight line street acceleration. Go get it Dodge! I may release some dollars your way if it's good enough. Hellcat didn't quite do it...this one might...if there is a redesign and it loses at least 500 lbs.

But that is for a tiny 2.5L v6 not a huge 6.4L with a blower on top. That hump is just for the transfer case.
I thought the IS250 was actually a 4 cylinder, not a 6. I think the IS350 is a V6.
