I absolutely need NAV. Some may be fine with a phone or window/dash mount NAV but I just can't do it. Looks terrible to me and having the NAV integrated in the dash is the only option for me.

Hope I don't push any buttons here being new and all, but I'm just going to base this off a handful of Phone chargers/USB cables and different vehicles I've been in. Yet, I think it largely depends on the output at which the car can charge the phone.. I've been in numerous situations in which the phone using navigation draws more power at which it can be charged.. (Note: I've had every Galaxy Note, 1 Lumia 920, S5, IPhone 5, and last my current Phone Lumia 1520.) In a lot of cases, I've either forgotten the cable or placed it in another car, Didn't charge the phone completely, or worse gotten stuck in traffic. Factor in there are individuals who love BT and Turn by Turn Directions( with an Always on Screen) your battery only get's drained quicker.

In the end, Can i live without it? Yeah sure, but I rather just have mines built in and just use my phone for music and calls that need to be made.

When using nav on a phone or charging any tablet, you need a 2.1 amp charger and a cable capable of supporting 2.1amps. Thats the reason it wasn't charging. There are two styles of chargers, 1.0 amps and 2.1 amps.

If you've never gotten the "Satellite Connection Lost" notification from your phone while you're driving, you're a luckier man than I am. I got it four times in one half-hour trip last week.
I honestly haven't. I have lost cellular data, which it uses to download the maps (this is prebuffered when loading google maps driving directions), but I have never lost GPS using a Galaxy s4 or an iPhone 5s.

Here is an example of one of the 2.1 chargers. Each slot does 2.1 amps.

Also you will be glad to know that the 2015 mustang is the first Ford vehicle to have 2.1 amp usb jacks in it.

There will be three styles of audio for the 2015 Ford Mustang and is the first Ford vehicle to feature a high-power, 2.1-amp USB port that charges phones and other devices twice as fast as other ports.

Thanks for sharing this, I will definitely look into this.

I know how ya feel. When I use Maps+ (lol) on my 1020 the battery drains extremely quickly. Plug it in , and you can maintain whatever percent of battery you were at, plus a very hot phone

As for the Nav question... For some reason I am extremely terrible at operating screens while driving. Of course I have no problem whilst sitting still. I prefer to have buttons to push and occasionally glance down at my phone screen every 20 or so miles ( depending).

But I will admit that phones are not ideal. Depending on what application you use, the directions can be vague or downright misleading ( Looking at you Windows Maps+). I've recently started using Waze and am loving it. Much cleaner, quicker and uses far less battery.

Btw, My old 4S and now Lumia 1020 fit perfectly in the spot between Volume and Tune. Hoping I can replicate that somewhat in the 2015!

use "here drive+" not MS maps or Here Maps. Here Drive+ is great GPS software with very accurate offline maps and excellent voice directions

Check out WAZE. It not only gives you directions, but also gives you real time police activity reports. Free!

Isn't it more Police sightings than it is police activity reports?

I started using it last week after hearing about it from you all. It's kinda cool, more helpful around rush hour when lots of Wazers are out and about. So makes it easier to push through traffic knowing where they've been spotted and where they haven't.

Also pretty helpful when people report things on the roadway when you come upon it and get a warning and know to be extra careful.

I've only used the nav a couple times on it, but didn't find it any more or less helpful than any other.

Well it helped me find a better route to work in the morning ! Sort of. It beats some traffic. The only way to truly beat traffic is to wake up earlier ..i swear I need those extra 20 minutes ;).

A lot of waze is police reports and "hazards" sitting on the shoulder (cars stopped). Also it tells you you're in. Traffic..when you're in traffic hah.

I guess it works better in certain areas because where I live, there are really only 1-3 ways to get anywhere. And that's where everybody is :D

There is only one google maps made by google. If you have an Android phone it comes with the phone. If you have an iPhone and do a search for google maps, its the first one that comes up. Says made by Google Inc.
