Pretty sure all cars are made to meet California emission now.

Nope. My GT Performance Package says.. not for sale in CA. My boyfriend and I chuckled about that. I can probably take a picture of it later for proof. :)

Wow! Such hostility, uglygun! Perhaps you should take a chill pill. Hostility like that will eat you up from the inside! Bad for your health!

Why don't we just get back to talking about our cars? That is what this forum is for. Marino asked a good question, one that I don't think has been answered with certainty yet.
Agreed ,but the foxophiles will spewforth.

You havent seen hostile. I prefer to think that my hate for this crappy state keeps me warm at night.

Show me a hipster driving their POS Prius in the fast lane barely going the speed limit while trying to be self appointed enforcer/cop of the entire road way, while traffic is trying to do 10-15 mph faster than them, and I will tell you my real opinion.

This "peace&love" socialistic crap, with everyone so overly concerned about what everyone else is doing, is what lead to driving people out of this state in the first place. You wonder why states around the country hate Californians? It is because the same people responsible for ruining this state move on, like locusts, to better states that are more affordable to live and then promptly ruin them too.

As for why there are CARB compliant cars made as standard? Because that is how much influence this state has on other states which have adopted Ca. style smog laws.

It isnt enough that the EPA have a set of regulations, not for California, no there needs to be more stringent standards...

Try looking into what CARB wants to implement with OBD III...

Let's throw in a gas additive that nobody in the country uses and does nothing except make our gas more expensive. Hell give out tax credits for hybrids and electric cars as well but when taxes collected are no longer as high, due to reduced fuel consumption, let's raise the rates of yearly registration and also gear up for registration based on miles driven in a year.

California has declared war on those of us who use gasoline.

And here is a little piece of advice to remember. California's progressive crap usually filters it's way to the rest of the country eventually. And that is how CARB style emissions got on all the cars, basically if it can pass here it can pass anywhere due to CARB setting the bar so high.

If you abolish half the things I have cited in my rants you might be able to save this state. Otherwise everyone is just trying to live long enough to make it to retirement so that they can get the hell out and move some place where there might be some freedom left to enjoy before they die.

Lame. Dont go getting all triggered and SJW on me.

Fox news is almost more liberal than CNN these days. For what it is worth I hate Trump/Cruz about as much as I hate Sanders and Clinton. Tip of the hat going to hating environmentalists and gun banners most.

So what is different physically between cars sold in those states and cars sold in the rest of the country?

And what happens if someone from those states buys a car from another state? Will Ford be installing said equipment so that they are now legal in their own state?
In Oregon, you can't "import" a car from out of state that doesn't have CA emissions unless you have at least 7,500 miles on the odometer. However, DEQ (our illustrious Department of Environmental Quality), only emissions tests cars in the Portland Metro tri-county area (Multnomah, Clackamas, and Washington counties) plus Medford (Jackson County). I checked into buying a car in Texas while I was home for Christmas (actually called Oregon DMV), but was advised that an "imported" car in the tri-county area has to take a roller test at Oregon DEQ before you're issued a registration

I could have registered the vehicle in TX using my Mom's address, but then I'd be paying the roughly 8.75% Texas sales tax (no sales tax here in OR ).

I'm at work, but when I get a free moment, I'll post a picture of my window sticker with the CA Emissions section highlighted.

I'm looking at a 2016 Mustang GT that's being sold in Virginia but I live in California. It doesn't say whether it is compliant with California emissions or not. It only says Emissions LEV II. This was the case with nearly every 2016 Mustang that I saw. Are all 2016s now CA compliant?
Here is copy of the Ford Emissions Guide for the Mustang. I didn't bother with the other Fords.

http://www.fleet.ford.com/programs/emission-guides/

EDIT: Never mind...i just noticed it is for Fleet vehicles.

The only problem, those SOB's retire and move to places like South Dakota, and Colorado. They then decide they need all the crap they had in California. More Malls, of course, and those two lane roads, why they can't navigate their RV's, so they need to be widened to four lans with a center median. They have ruined the landscape and the driving pleasure in more places then I can write about, and that is not even touching on the 5000 sq foot homes they insist on building, raising our housing and property tax cost. Please keep those retiree's in California.

Oh I am aware...

Hence the locust reference. I would love to stay in my smallish home town for my entire life. I am fortunate to be in an area with a lower cost of living average than the rest of the state. But with 18-20 years left to retire god only knows what the reality will be by that time.

Been all over the world but there is nowhere else I would rather call home than my life long home town. I just hate that it is in California.

Documented proof that CA emissions is an option

Okay, as I promised earlier:

Here's my window sticker (at least the relevant part!). I've circled the CA emissions option...I apologize for the crappy quality, etc, been a little busy at work today :(

Yes, begining with the 2016 model year the EPA has adopted CARB as the national standard.

Interesting. Wish my 2015 had that. Bought in Ohio and tried to register it in PA and surprise, under the hood is a label that says "not certified for sale in California" and no California emissions system on my window sticker. Dealer didn't know about the rule either I guess. :headbonk: So they had to issue me a new temp plate every month until I had 7,500 miles at which point PA then lets you register the car as used. Luckily I was driving a ton back then and hit 7,500 miles in about 4 or 5 months.

Also when I gave my VIN for my 15 EB PP to the Ford parts guy, it came up in his computer as CA emissions. I never even considered it before since I live in MD and the car was originally delivered to a dealer in VA.

So then why did Ford put California Emissions as a no-cost option on my 2016 car? Anyone have their window sticker from a 2016 car purchased in a non-CA Emissions state?

I don't understand your question.

The California Air Resources Board, also known as CARB.

I have a 2015 EB that was purchased in a non-CA Emissions state that has the same entry. CALIFORNIA EMISSIONS SYSTEM - NO CHARGE

I am sure that there is a ranch in Idaho where you can strip off all of your CA emission systems...shoot any stray dogs and whiny neighbor kids, while complaining that you can't get your lung cancer meds fast enough from one of those elitist companies in one of the libural coastal states.
