I can't get the caliper back on the bracket after trying to diagnose a rear brake squeal. (non Brembo) Can't compress the piston - Does it take special tool to move the piston inward?

I searched for DIY posts, but can't find any.

Thanks

Yes. These actually turn. You can buy the tool at the autoparts store. It essentially twists the piston back into place.

Thanks.

I'm new to Ford after coming from GM.

You might be able to use some needle nose pliers if you can't get to the store to rent the tool. I've done that on my Focus ST, it had 2 holes I just put the pliers in and pressed while I twisted.

needle nose pliers work fine. No need for a special tool as they turn pretty easily.

Just be sure to carefully lubricate the rubber boots that surround the piston before you turn it. You don't want to tear those boots. WD40 works fine for this, just don't get any on the brake pads or the rotors.
