I just bought this 2020 GT non PP with only 2,000 miles 2 days ago. It had half a tank whenever I picked it up, today I filled it up because the range was at 41 miles. After filling it up, I looked at the distance to empty and it only said 241. I had a 2016 v6 and a 2019 ecoboost, both of them always said 300+ when I would fill up. I’ve only ever used premium on my cars. And ik the distance to empty is just an estimate it’s not that accurate but still, it’s missing a bunch of more miles. The gas pump clicked after 13 gallons. Anyone has a clue as to why?

That all makes sense. It's a 15.5 gal tank, 20ish mpg depending. You can squeeze 28 or so on the highway if you really crawl but low teens if you're working it. The previous owner probably got on it constantly so the trip meter is probably thinking 15mpg.

241÷15.5 gal= 15.5mpg

Then again I suck at math.

Did you look at “miles to go “ soon after filling up ? If so it takes a few minutes to catch up.

I did reset the MPG whenever I got the car and the average on it was 19.5 mpg. Idk man cause i’ve seen other people on other forums saying theirs goes up 300+ when they fill up

I did look at it as soon as i filled up, then I thought the same thing lemme drive it for a bit then see. I looked again after 10 miles and it had gone down from the 241 not up lmao

Give it a couple tanks. Then see what it says. When I first got my GT, first fill up said 145. Now it’s closer to 300.

I believe it only resets at fill up, not while driving. Some have said it will adjust while driving, but that has not been my experience.

Yeah I think i’m going to do that. Or it could be that the previous owner used regular and not premium. i’ve had that happen before in a rental mustang

That seems low. I have 18 mpg average, after fill up I get about 270 miles until empty.

AFter a few tanks with this auto, mine stays between 295-305 after fill up. Now if I run sport mode a lot, well now we are 230-240 lol. My morning commute is a few red lights and cruise set at 65-70 most of the time. About half the afternoon is that, and then lots of red lights due to afternoon traffic. IMO, Normal mode and 300 mile range is great.

Most likely the OP might need to adjust the AFE Bias calibration of the cluster. It's been discussed on here elsewhere as others have found that the S550 MPG readings are not accurate or in some instances not being calculated correctly in both the Analog and Digital clusters. One can confirm this if they did the old fashioned MPG pencil to paper (or Excel sheet) math.

To adjust the AFE Bias, you first need to access Engineering Mode; the below links demo how to access EM.

If you have a 2015-2020 with the ANALOG gauge cluster, you should be able to enter the “Engineer Test Mode”.

Follow this link:
https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/engineering-test-mode.27581/

If you you have a 2018+ with the DIGITAL cluster, you should be able to access the same test mode found here:
