That is true as well but cost is a factor. It's also painfully apparent that most people are pointing the finger at the bushings instead of the correct location: terrible dampers, both base and PP.
Ah, I see you missed the point.Apologist much?
Doing the same thing. My Koni's arrived yesterday and my BMR 089/082 progressive springs arrive next week. I knew going in the Mustang suspension wasn't going to be anywhere near the BMW adaptive suspension.I too bought an automatic equipped GT premium and experienced the bounce and bottoming on high speed dips from the rear. I purchased a set of used PP springs because I didn't want the car lowered and installed a set of Koni's. Huge improvement for not a huge amount of money. I'm in the tire and repair business and have driven plenty of high end sports cars. Can't touch my car for the money as far as performance and comfort goes.
Not even a little bit. This was my first modern Ford (3 Second Gen Tauri, 2 SHOs in high school) and I'd buy another if they keep up the same formula. I will say I'd pay more for a better out of the box product, though, something similar to the 1LE in performance (handling/braking/tire).Ah, I see you missed the point.
FYI, this is my first and last Ford purchase, but for other reasons.
No, you shouldn't expect top performance because you didn't pay for it  Just like I shouldn't expect GT350 performance because I didn't pay for it.Saying that I got the base GT so i shouldn't expect top performance is the stupidest reason I've ever heard.
To be fair, even the PP leaves a LOT to be desired in a performance package. I'm not the only one that agrees, most mags think so too. It's already cheaper, throw the book at it, or offer a "track" pack on top of the PP, for another 2k? and really go to town on the suspension and wheel/tires. A 4500-5k package that gives the GT350 mag suspension and sways, and wheel widths on MPSS? Yes please. No, you shouldn't expect top performance because you didn't pay for it  Just like I shouldn't expect GT350 performance because I didn't pay for it.
I agree (heck I have almost the entire Steeda suspension catalogue on my car...) but for $35K or whatever it is with the PP you are hard pressed to find anything better. My point is, this guy didn't even buy the PP package then complains about the car's performance. If you bought a base GT, where else does 32K get you that performance? To be fair, even the PP leaves a LOT to be desired in a performance package.
Understood. Its less about the competition and more about optimizing an already good product.I agree (heck I have almost the entire Steeda suspension catalogue on my car...) but for $35K or whatever it is with the PP you are hard pressed to find anything better. I'll add "All of these vehicles are slower around the track". Yes, the V8 contributes to that, too.Oh, and name similar handling cars for this price point? There are tons.

All of these vehicles are either similarly priced or cheaper than a S550. All of these vehicles inherently offer better handling than the S550.
You are correct. Take motor out of the equation. All of the above cars have better designed suspensions for similar or less price point.I'll add "All of these vehicles are slower around the track". Yes, the V8 contributes to that, too.
I agree, no PP on the auto is a strange decision, one I wouldn't have made. I can assure you that the PP doesn't solve your issues, however, so you can stop barking up that tree.you're missing my point.
there are tons of performance cars out there with auto transmissions.
ford alienated those folks by not allowing the PP option for auto's
General ride compliance from the springs/shocks must be tuned for each model due to weight and many other factors.
however - ford chose to put crappy bushings in every model except the top teir gt350 and GTPP.
So because i want an auto i have to have the shitty bushings everywhere in the car.
The other factor you guys seem to be overlooking is that again, just because cost is x, doesn't mean design/quality should suffer. It's not an excuse, it's simply accepted by the consumer.
It's advertised and sold as a performance car. Therefore it shouldn't ride like a luxury car. Soft spring A doesn't cost any less than 5% stiffer spring B. Crappy rubber bushing A costs pennies less than stiffer better rubber bushing B.
I will say that your point is valid with regards to the quality of the "design," in this case the bushings. You're just terrible at making your point.Oh, and name similar handling cars for this price point? There are tons.

Even older mustangs like the S197 and SN95 didn't need as many bushings as this car does just to handle correctly and safely. I think Ford Racing offers a performance bushing replacement for pretty much the entire suspension. That speaks volumes to me that they put shit bushings in the car to begin with and then said "hey, let's offer the good stuff and make people pay for it"
What you guys don't realize is you're paying for a shiny turd and are proud of it.
So take out the counter argument to your argument, and your argument is true? Got it.You are correct. Take motor out of the equation. All of the above cars have better designed suspensions for similar or less price point.
