Trying to disable the ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) on my ecoboost very. Has anyone managed to do it? If so where is the mic located. Trying to figure this out before I install any audio gear.

I can remove it through recoding the ACM.. some do it through unplugging the MIC.. I would have to look at the service manual for a convertible.. on the hard top its in the rear center of the head liner..

I will see what I can find.. but I always prefer to code it out of the ACM and leave things plugged in

Let me know what you find. This is the only thing stopping me from changing out the sound system.

If you could find the location of the mic that would be great. There is a reddit post somewhere online in which someone found a mic in the map light compartment but I'm not sure what the mic looks like or even how to remove it.

I'm not trying to throw in a 3K system in the car either. I'll probably just add a sub-woofer. However the low tones from the fake engine note and the ANC will make driving with a sub-woofer a miserable experience.

I just looked at the service manual.. on the convertible you pull the top caps off the quarter panels and it is under there.. both side.. and there is one in the front map light also..

Thanks for the info. Should have gone with my instinct to disconnect the 2 sensors/mic thingies I discovered when I installed the CDC light bar. Although I still would have to deal with one in the map light. Oh well take it apart again.

It will eliminate the radio system generating noise to cancel out other noises.

and the problem is, when you alter the audio system ( higher power amp, or more efficient speakers, the ANC signal is now out of calibration and can now actually add sound. this also applies to the engine sound enhancement signal. both are overlayed with the audio signal to the speakers.

Well dang. Since I just upgraded all my speakers maybe I need to get out there an unplug stuff and see if it does anything to my v8 car.
