Has anyone seen any reviews that directly compare a given model with and without the performance package? I am most interested in the Ecoboost, and have no intention of racing or hitting the track -- will probably be buying the EB convertible as a commuting car, taking the kids around, some weekend fun and so on. I live in Northern CA, so there are plenty of twisty roads nearby for some weekend fun. I want it to handle nicely, but don't want it to be so stiff the rest of the time to piss off everyone else in the car during the week. Right now Ecoboost is appealing to me now for all the usual reasons (save money, gas, and favoring handling over straight line speed) and I'd consider the PP for the extra $2k unless you would be unlikely the notice the difference except under really hard driving.

Cheers,
Pete

PP isn't available for convertible sorry bro. Good luck with your purchase.

Actually you can get an EB convertible with the PP. You can even get an EB with an automatic convertible with PP. Yeah, really enjoy your purchase.

Indeed the online configuration tool from Ford lets you build either an EB or GT convertible with the performance package. I think there may be some bits of the chassis strengthening not included with the convertible. I will definitely test drive both options (when available) before ordering but was just curious if anyone had driven both a PP and non PP back to back to see what difference it actually makes.

Doesn't seem like any of the media got two samples of each flavor. They got one GT and one EB, most seem to have been PPs but I have seen a few of each that were not. Have to wait on that one, maybe.

You cannot build the GT Convertible with the Performance Package.

You probably don't need the PP. Most of the reviewers with the EB with and without PP said that the only main difference they felt was when they were pushing it around corners, etc.

Thanks all. Yes definitely leaning towards no PP and save the $2k. Still some small chance I'll spring for the GT convertible over the EB convertible after test driving both, but I'm probably too practical to do that. An EB convertible mustang as a primary vehicle when you have two young kids is probably enough impracticality!

Indeed it appears PP is available on the EB convertible, but not the GT convertible. I never tried EB automatic with PP (since I will only consider a manual). Note that two PP items are missing from the EB convertible (below is from Ford's website) which perhaps diminish its value if the primary purpose is to improve handling?

The EcoBoost® Performance Package Includes:
• Upsized rear sway bar (Fastback only)
• Unique chassis tuning
• Larger brake rotors with 4-piston calipers
• Unique 19” x 9” Ebony Black aluminum wheels
• 255/40R19 Summer Only Tires
• Unique EPAS, ABS and stability control tuning
• Instrument panel appliques are Aluminum
• Interior gauge pack (oil pressure and boost)
• 3.55 limited-slip rear axle
• Larger radiator
• Heavy-duty front spring (Fastback only)
• Spoiler delete

Not a direct comparison but it's a non-PP & he seams to like it.

And then the new BMR parts will dominate. Lol
