I have ordered a non-performance package ecoboost premium (manual), but I am a little sad that all the reviews are for the ecoboosts with the PP. I believe and still want to believe that I made the right decision based on my reasons:
  • Daily driver (will never seriously track the car)
  • Thus as a daily driver, I feel much more comfortable with a spare
  • Tires/winter tires will be cheaper (probably?)
  • I like the brushed aluminum metal dash trim much better than the engine turned aluminum
Though I do really like the PP wheels (I ordered 18" foundry) and the gauges (though gimmicky), I'm wondering how much difference in feel is between ecoboost PP/ non-PP as a daily driver type. It seems less of a difference than on the GT based on less additional parts.

If you're not concerned with track performance or opening it up on twisty roads, non-PP will probably work fine for you.

You won't notice it as a daily driver. Plus I agree, the brushed is much nicer looking and honestly, just do some after market stuff (19" wheels for summer, keep your 18's for winter) and get some heavy duty springs, slight adjustments if you want a tighter feel.

Gyascutus -- your reasons are very similar to the reasons I didn't go with the PP. Mine will be a DD too, and driven through an Ohio winter. I think the dash trim looks better too. For me a big reason I didn't go PP was the black rims ( do not like all black wheels ), and having to get a spare set of rims/tires for the winter. I like the foundry wheels, but like the 19" 50thA wheels even better, so I went with that.

I don't think you'll be disappointed with the regular version -- it handles great and accelerates strongly. We'll probably only lose a tenth or two in the 1/4 due to the lower gearing ( I'm waiting 'til next year to go to the track ), and pull a few less G's in the corner. I have no regrets forgoing the PP.

Daily Driver here. Going without the PP was never an option. The 3600+ lb. 2.3l needs every (OEM) performance advantage you option it out with, IMO.

You can add,
Replacement brake pads & rotors cost less.
Gear ratio is suited for better MPG (0.5-1%? on highway)
It's at least 30lbs lighter, 0.1%? better MPG.
Tire size & design, 0.1%? better MPG.
Softer front springs (relative to PP) on long drives might be easier on your back.

the price for 18 inch tires is reasonable.

I got the PP for the roughly 150 top speed bragging rights, cool ass dash gauges, and heavier duty hardware for a good deal. I have a pretty brutal commute so bigger brakes, heavy duty front springs, and better cooling are all desirable. Everything the package comes with is more than double the $2k. I am buying a separate set of 18" wheels and all-seasons, and the PP rims/tires will be for special occasions

Does the EB PP have 'better cooling'? I thought the GT PP was the only one with a larger radiator. Is there something else you're referring to?

I am also not a big fan of those PP black wheels, plus I think they will be very hard to keep clean.

Anyone getting the EcoBoost non PP, with the optional 20" wheels? This is the option I am seriously considering. I haven't seen many EcoBoost w/ 20" wheels as of yet, I have seen a few GT's non PP, with the 20" wheels though.

I have one on order.. build week is 10/26. It just looks so clean with the 20" wheels really not a fan of black glossy ones, as you said they're probably hard to keep clean plus they're not too visually appealing to me. I'm using it as a Daily Driver and not worried about track performance.

Sweet ok !!! I am curious to see how the ride is with those 20" vs the 18" or 19", let me know if you can and congrats !!

Someone posted yesterday that they thought the 20s made the ride a little rough during a test drive, compared to the 18s - but that is one opinion, secondhand. They definitely look nice; I have considered them, but I really would prefer 18" or 19" wheels on this car since I'm going to need winter tires in all likelihood. The 20s are summer only, and probably quite a bit more pricey to replace in any event. Just not worth it to me for a purely aesthetic upgrade.

Plus I like the black wheels. I didn't at first but they have grown on me. Especially on black, magnetic, and yellow, they look great. Not too bad on DIB or guard either.
