So I know different brands of tires have different widths assuming we are comparing the same size. Some run a bit narrow compared to others. My question is which tires tend to run a bit wider? I’ve heard Contis run a bit narrow. Does anyone have any experience with certain brands? I hope this question makes sense

I’m pretty sure BFG runs wide, or at least they used to. Nitto was more narrow last time I bought them.

Assuming we don’t pick one brand to set a standard…Michelins run wide, Conti’s do run narrow, Toyo’s are huge, and GY is on par with Michelin. IMO.

But, a lot of it can be the visuals due to the shape of the sidewall and shape of the tire. And the specs don’t really help a lot. They are unreliable because there is no industry standard on where/how to take a measurement. For example; last I checked, my 325/30 Conti and a 325/30 Michelin PS4S have the same section width (and maybe even tread width, didn’t go look). HA! Yeah right.

Look at specs for given tire model at TireRack's website - they measure those (width for example) from what I remember.

Blocked shoulders versus rounded shoulders makes a visual difference.
