I see lots of GTs with various colored calipers. Are people painting them and if so what lasts? I have a 2015 ppGT so I have the brembos but with the PP wheels you can barely see them. Or are people using the covers? I dont want to do that...
The covers have more colors available than the ones you see in AM or CJ. And once you get then properly placed, they are a good option. Painting usually has a short life span, but powder coating does real good.
The first pics are the calipers on my CTS-V. They were painted over four years before I took that pic. They lasted so long that I used the same paint and method on my Mustang. Use the right paint and good prep and they will last as longer then you want them too.
1.Clean the hell out of them with soap and water, 2. Scuff them up with a scotch brite, 3. Clean them again. 4. Paint them with as many coats as needed to get a good even color coverage with about 30 mins drying time between each coat. 5. after applying any decal, clear coat them with between 3 and 5 coats of clear. DISCLAIMER: This will not hold up to track use. That much heat will over heat the engine paint I used.
