I just received my 2022 M1 with handling package, I do not track the car, so for better quality I want to dump the Cup 2 for something a bit more comfortable. Can the experts tell me the difference btw the PS2 and 4S. Thanks

Hello, This is Kj from Need4speed Motorsports. And I wanted to offer up some insight into The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 and The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. By comparison standards, Michelin's goal was to create a Top Max Performance Tire in the Pilot Sport 4S, by this, their focus was on Dry Braking, Dry Handling, Wet Braking, Wet Handling, Straight Aqua, Noise, and Rolling Resistance.
And with the Pilot Sport Cup 2, they were trying to offer consumers the "Best Dry Performance Tire" on the track and road, something "Street Legal". When Michelin tested the (PS4/PS2) in overall performance, one would outduel the other slightly, and the margins were close. Through this battery of tests, the Pilot Sport Cup 2 dominated in Dry Performance as expected, with the 4s prevailing in wet, noise, and rolling resistance. Michelin noted that there were strengths and weaknesses in both tires and when choosing the Cup 2 or the 4S, you should do so based on your performance requirements, in essence, What fits your intended use?
I personally use the Sport Cup 2's on My 2020 Pp2, I daily them, and with the torrential rain we've been having lately, I could have swapped out to another set of wheels/tires(6 sets of Project6GR Wheels and counting), I have just been rollin' with them. I know that they don't do well in cold temps, but I like it, the car "tramlines" and shimmies down the road, and it keeps me engaged with my car, how it feels and handles in harsh conditions. I really have to manage the throttle control being supercharged, but overall it's my "Go-To" Performance tire.

I really like the Pilot Super Sports. I used them on the 2016 GT350 I used to own, both for daily driving as well as for track days. I think they have a good balance of grip and life without too high of a price. I have used the 4S on my 2017 with Mach 1 HP tires and they have very good grip. I haven't driven them long enough to be able to talk about life, but I used them for one track day and they look like they took a lot of abuse. I was used to the Pilot SS tires lasting 15,000 miles or more even with a few scattered track days in there, so we will see if the 4S last as long. RIght now if I had to guess I would say they won't last as long. The event I went to was at a small track. The event duration was short, but probably still hard on tires because it was a really small, tight track.
