Anyone running BG Ultra Guard in their diff? Pros and cons of 75W-90 vs 75W-140 vs OEM on non track pack cars? Does it reduce overheating?

I am, went with 75W-90 after talking to Tim at OP mustang (I have coolers on my 350). If I remember correctly, the 75W-140 was to help against limp mode on cars without diff coolers but don't quote me on that.

Are you having overheating/limp mode issues on track?

No, just prepping for the track and since I don't have the coolers I want to do as much as possible to prevent it.

90 if you are not road coursing the car or, if you are, you have a diff cooler.
140 if you do not have a cooler (and will road course the car).

140 bought me noticeably more time before I get the diff temp warning.

How much more time are we talking?

There's not going to be a diff temp warning popping up on a 2015 or 2016 GT350 tech / base car. Those cars don't have a temperature sensor in the differential.

It is good to know that a fluid change will reduce diff temperatures though.

Translates to more likely to get a full session in on a hot day in the afternoon. Maybe 2 more laps than without it here and there. I just see the warning less. Still get it... just less.

Are there any drawbacks to 75-140? Can it be used on the street as well?
It's quite a bit thicker. I wouldn't run it on a street car in the winter (as it'll be so viscous and won't lubricate as well). But I wouldn't hesitate in the warmer months (Apr-Nov).

Amsoil makes a 110 weight that I run. Works well.
Anyone else go the 110 route? If you have a track pack car, I assume you're jsut as well off with a 90 and don't overthink it?!

I liked the added viscosity since I track the car and push it hard. It was a great middle ground for my intended use and it’s worked great. I did not compare temps with this and the OEM fluid, but no overheating concerns with this. You definitely need to watch the diff temps more closely than the tranny temps.

I migrated my way to a person a Torsen itself who said 140 is what they’d recommend if they could. So I don’t have a problem using it in my car. As far as I’m concerned BG 140 has worked great. I tried Lucas Syn 140 in a pinch and I got the temp warning in about the same time as I would with the factory oil. Can’t imagine it can be that bad so maybe I just got faster. Considering I’ve likely hit my peak (ug) I figure BG just is magic sauce.
