You don't have a pp1 how do you know? Pp2 wheels are much less intricate.
The proportion of time, even with a brush, to clean the wheels relative to the rest of car is too high. This is evident by OP starting this thread in the first place.

I think I've come up with a simple 3 step process for cleaning these:

1. Sell/Discard the heavy PP1 wheels

2. Purchase lighter aftermarket wheels with fewer spokes

3. Clean them inside of 10 minutes using any of the above methods

Done and done
