I'd recommend buying a cheap 4 cylinder car on Craig's list that can get you at least 25-30 mpg. You can find a lot; that's that I did bought one for 1100 and I save gas that way
Yup, I did that same thing. Picked up a Pontiac Grand Prix for $1,200 from craigslist and get a good 27-29 mpgs in my 90 mile commute

I just got a new job with a very long commute. Thinking about letting my baby go. Does anyone have any idea how much one can expect in depreciation? Has anyone had their car appraised or sold? My car is a 2015 Mustang GT Premium Performance Package with Nav and reverse sensors. Only 4700 miles. No part of me wants to let her go especially if I have to take a huge hit on depreciation.
Move.
I used to have a 50 mile commute one way. What a waste of 2 hours/day.

My commute is about the same. Gas prices are low now but in Cali they could be at $4+ per gallon next week. I have to fill up 2-3 times per week.
Nooo way. I live in cali and gas right now is around $2.50. I love it. But wtf $4, is this true?

Buying a second junker for $1000 because it gets better mpg? And how long would you have to drive it daily before you saved that much in gas money from the difference? Or trading in with a big loss for the same reason?
That's making a sucky problem way suckier.
Yeah brohhhh....I traded my 15 GT for this wicked sweet Altima cause like now I'm only spending $30 a week on gas and the GT was killin me at $55. But in 3 years, I'll have made up for that spankin I took on my trade.
Just drive it brah! Cut back on the Venti Lattes and Monster drinks instead! And next time....just buy the Civic and turn in your man card.

I am wondering if KBB is accurate or if anyone has done better than KBB in trade, carmax, etc.
I just recently got my 15 but I sold an 08 Mustang and a 07 Mazda before that. In my case KBB was about $2K more than CarMax for both cars and CarMax was about $2k more than the dealers for both. I was able to put the carmax check down on the table at the dealers and got that price.

My daily round trip is also 90 miles. I use my Harley sportster on good days and my mustang on not so good days. I get about 24 mpg on the car and 50 mpg on the bike.

I'd look for a 1980/1990 something, Toyota or Honda. A $500 commuter, with heat and air is all you need.

cali be robbing yall.
Geez I didn't realize how cheap gas was around the country...I thought gas was pretty cheap here with the recent gas drop in the past month to about $3.20ish on 91 octane.

WHAAAA???

I live in the rainiest areas of the world and my commute is a total of 2 hours in bumper to bumper traffic doing 5 mph.

A lot of the reason I would drive a beater is much more then *gas*.

this thread is about *depreciation* and as a car enthusiast, and this is my first Ford. I have a lot more faith then others that this car is going to have a lot better long term value then people think right now. This 2015 is more of a gem then people may realize right now that have actually been in the Ford community for a while, its pulling in people like myself who have been into Jap/German cars for the past several decades.

for example, I considered buying my 4th Honda S2000 but I actually saw a person selling a 2004 with 10K miles for $35,000 which is $4K more then MSRP was when it was new.

I currently plan to keep my Mustang as clean as possible, a garage queen like my S2000's were. But then again, I have a Convertible and Vert owner mind sets are a it different then others.

we all probably get that much on the highway, while cruising, but i don't really care about what i'm getting on the highway, i care about what i'm getting overall.
