Now I can rest easy until it arrives...

I just got an a-mail from my dealer saying that my order is "locked in". He said it's the last stage before production.

I assume this means I can no longer change my order, but does anyone know what else that might mean?

I did reply asking if there was a VIN or any kind of schedule, but haven't heard back. I'm assuming there isn't either of those yet. But, it sounds like things a moving along.

mine's 286 and, as of last week, mine appears to be scheduled for the same week. I'm expecting more 'adjustments' to the schedule...and not in the right direction.

The 9th digit is a "check digit" assigned by the Ford computer designed to validate the string of numbers assigned to the serial number. A meaningless number from your perspective.

I believe locked-in means it will be built but until it gets scheduled and a VIN is produced you won't know when. Could be anytime from now to Q4. There may be rare circumstances where locked-ins don't get built but none I have heard of. I think from what others have posted that you can still make changes up until it's scheduled.
