So I had to replace my Deck Lid Trim Panel. The plastic panel that sits between the tail lights. The panel is a multipiece assembly of plastic parts glued together. I'm surprised it stayed together as long as it did. I didn't find much on the web for replacement parts except used so I went to the local dealer and was quoted $1100 for a new panel. Yikes! So I spent some quality time searching the web. For a few days. I finally found one for $300. A new panel but an older design. A lot better than $1100 for the latest design. I didn't want a plain black aftermarket panel. I wanted the chrome horsey on the panel.

I'd like to try and re-glue the original panel but I'm not hopeful. There's no damage to any of the plastic pieces but it's labeled: "PC+ABS" (Polycarbonate with ABS). Figuring out how to remove the old adhesive and then finding the proper adhesive to glue it back together is a major science fair project. If anyone has already solved this problem please advise. I have a poor track record when re-gluing plastic parts. Especially for automotive applications.

I’m not sure if I’m missing something but you can by replacement deck lid panels for like $100-$150.

$1,100?!?! Please link where that is.

Hey OP, don't even bother try gluing the new emblem to your secondary trim panel, it will be a royal PITA and still might not stay together.

Just buy a good used trim panel either from eBay (resellers of parts from crashed cars) or from members here on this forum that wanted a different style. Get the exact panel you want for much less and install it on the car.

This is far easier than putting together your science project lol.

I’d be searching all the local yards for a Mustang panel I liked because I’m picky.

I just replaced mine (plain) for less than $100 from Steeda and I know you can get the drilled one so you can add the chrome pony for less than a$150

I Have no clue what you're talking about because I just replaced mine (no holes) for less than $100 from Steeda. I know you can buy the Ford Performance panel for $170 which is the most expensive out there. . Mine is all one piece so what you're talking about gluing I haven't a clue. The chrome pony can be bought on ebay.
