$2000 ? How much is the sales tax in NYC ? I see LA area tax should be around 9% including state, county and city.



This statement wouldn't add up to the $2000 that Roman paid.

If he moved from a very low tax place then it very well could be.

Yeah, I bought it from a dealer about an hour south of Buffalo on my way through. You know, now that I'm thinking about it, I seem to remember the dealer set me up with some sort of special tag...like a transport tag or something. I don't think I paid any tax in NY state. I have to go back through my records and/or ask my dad how that worked (I got a friends and family discount through him). Apologies for the fuzzy memory; too many IPA's between then and now.

In California when you are getting registered or maybe if or also buying a used car... under 7k miles or so they consider the car as new... isn't the tax more? Buddy of mine living up in sac was saying just getting a license was ridiculous (expensive)

Alright guys, so I went last evening to the dealer and did a test drive - and the experience was just awesome! I'm glad I was atleast able to do that.
Unfortunately, this car did not have CA emissions. I dont know why they did this - I did mention that I will be moving to CA in few months when i put in the order. Such a bummer.:shrug:
The manager there said, if i buy this and take it into CA with <7500 miles odo reading, the car(VIN) will get black listed and will not be able to register it again.:thumbdown:
On the other hand, i did confirm that if it had CA emissions, and I take it to CA, I would be paying the difference in sales tax rate when I register it.
So now I have to look for a car with similar specs and that has CA emissions.
Anyone in Phoenix area you are eligible to steal this order.

There are no changes to made to the car for CA emission correct? It's just a sticker saying its certified. My PA ordered car has CA emissions under options.

When you order the mustang, you have to tell them to order with California emissions or else it goes to default for your region

California has some jacked up vehicle laws and you do have smog tests there... there are additional components added as well as the car to seem detuned... compared to texas... you can google the requirements about california emissions... there are a few other states that adopted the California way as well

Yes understood and PA is one of them. My understanding is its the same exactly car just Ford has to pay for the CA Certified sticker. Basically the option puts the sticker under the hood.

It's not a sticker.. trust me... even some older cars have to get add ons if it was not previously ca emissions

The vehicle is our seems detuned to comply with the emissions requirements.... states that require it automatically gets installed, places like Texas.... does not require it since we go only by federal epa standard... California is in addition to it and is stricter on emissions than the federal... thus 50 state is a fed baseline....

On older cars yes. I don't believe so I newer ones. And please provide proof if so! Same Cat for both standards on Ford parts!
