December/January Orders

Think my dealer screwed me, ordered on 1/14 and not a budge on COTUS, still processing with no VIN number.

VINs are assigned on Thursdays (today). On 1/15 the VINs all got assigned in the evening of that day - so check back tonight to make sure there weren't any updates on that. fingers crossed

edit: Also, what priority is on your DORA?

What is your priority code? Mine is 19 which seems a slooooow code. :(
I ordered 1/5/15, Cotus had a VIN sometime before 1/17 (the date I discovered Cotus). No other info on Cotus for me. Per other's suggestion here, I called my salesman and he told me the build date (which is actually the Monday of the week it will be built). Blend date (actual scheduled build date) comes much later. I 'think' ≈5 days before your Monday build week date (guys, correct me if I have this wrong).

Many here ordering in Jan are blessed with lowest (retail) priority codes of 10 (or 11, 12). I was not planning to order when I went in that day. I had no idea what a priority code was or I would have included THAT piece in my negotiation (I assume dealer has flexibility to do so?). When negotiating, I was told 10 weeks lead time. I had NO idea there could be shorter waits. I was at my local small town dealer (not dealer I ordered from) yesterday, just to ogle the two 2015 coupes they had while I wait for my convertible. He said them being small had nothing to do with waiting longer to get a Mustang. He said they could have got me one in 6-8 weeks. Was he BS'ing me?? If that's true, and I had known it, I would surely have at least checked if he could have met the other dealer's price PLUS getting 2-3 week shorter lead time!

Oh well. I knew every nitty gritty detail about the car I wanted and the options available. I did not know what I did not know... :headbonk:

So as I read people here's timing from order to EDD etc. Priority Code is usually not mentioned. To me, that tid bit would be very helpful in understanding better the difference in speed of the order (aside from other variables like distance from Flat Rock MI, time 'sitting' waiting to ship, etc of course).

Just got ours delivered. Just been keeping track of things in here and hearing some of the scary stories. Just to give everybody some hope, COTUS is definitely not something to take to the bank. We ordered on 12/10, got built on 1/15 and the EDD was 2/5, then 2/2, then 1/29, then 1/30. Car arrived at Paradise Ford this morning, but COTUS still says in transit. I hope you all get a surprise as good as ours has been.

My DORA has a priority code of 10. Ordered mid-December and got my VIN when they started assigning new VINs after the post-holiday start-up. I think the secret was to order in January ;)

Once your order has been pulled (VIN assigned) the priority code is no longer a factor.
The priority code is simply the dealers way of telling Ford what order they'd prefer to have the cars built.

Almost all of the orders that were pulled on 1/15 will be built the week of 2/2. Of course there are exceptions, but it's very few.

Just got word from my dealer that my car is scheduled to be built 2/9!!!!

My order was pulled on 1/15. Have a Build Week of 2/9...Unfortunately I'm one of the few:shrug:

Oh my goodness! I checked COTUS like 20 times a day never expecting anything to change until a week before the build date but it just updated within the last 40 minutes. I have an estimated delivery of 2/20/15; isn't scheduled to be built until 2/16. No window sticker information or anything obviously. Hurray!

Wow the build date and delivery date is super close together. Is that a typo or is your dealer right outside the plant?

I'm about 4 hours away. A couple pages back I checked other cars at the dealership I'm buying from and it seems to take a couple days to make the trip

mine just updated. Estimated delivery date is 26 Feb. If that holds true it will have been 5 weeks from order to delivery.

I just got an EDD in COTUS - 2/28/15. I feel like a kid counting down the days till Xmas!
