I really enjoy the GT350 and previously owned a 2008 GT500 among many mustangs.

I am thinking about getting a second toy for cruising/weekend. Have any of you drove a 2011/2012 GT500 and 2016 Challenger Scatpack? How do they compare as far as fun factor?

Of course, I already have a mustang. Would I get bored easy with having two mustangs?
The Scatpack gives me something different, but will I miss the real power feel?

Or, should I wait for a used 2013 GT500 to be in my price range?

Thanks!

Honestly, gobs of power is overrated imo. I've owned some seriously fast cars, some with upwards of 700hp, of course it's fun, but you rarely get to use it without doing stupid shit. There's plenty of cars in that price range with enough power to enjoy, without going crazy. At 35-40k a Focus RS would be at the top of my list. Drive one and you'll see what I mean.

It depends what you want to do with it. I like to go to shows sometimes. For that money, you could buy a nice 427 Galaxie, big block Chevelle or a nice vintage Mustang. Also small light cars like a Miata or Honda S2000 give you the feeling of speed without all the horsepower. I have a HHR SS that is a little rocket and I can take it to Wal-Mart without worries.

Had a '13 GT500. Too much overlap between the cars where I couldn't see the point in owning both, unless I was a collector with nearly infinite money and space. The GT350 is superior in pretty much every metric except raw straight line power, and even then it's not like it's a slouch. Not to mention I don't have fond memories of the rough ride of the GT500 or its clutch when compared to the GT350.

If I was looking in that price range for another toy, I'd look into either a used Cayman/Boxster S or an old classic to play around with.

This.

My GT500 was pullied and tuned, really a useless street car other than for bragging rights.

A well-rounded car is so much more satisfying. I'd go Cayman S if I were looking for something nifty.

You can easily find a Factory Five Cobra replica for that price that will out perform most any car on the road.

You could also build a Factory 5 and have a car exactly how you want it.

I would have to agree. Drive a Focus RS. You will see what he means. You can't beat the RS if your looking for a car that can easily hang with cars costing way more. The handling is ridiculous. Truly a remarkable car. I was so impressed I bought two!

My second toy was actually my first, 2015 Hayabusa. Decent gas mileage and can hang with most of the big boys out there. I think the speed comes from the lack of an A/C compressor. :)

X11 for driving an RS. It is going to be one of those cars that are highly sought after like an EVO VIII, for example, as they are no longer made and will only get harder to find.

A few basic mods/tune will dip them in the upper 11’s/low 12’s and they handle like the tires are made with super glue.
