Death Wobble

Hey Everyone, I recently purchased my first Mustang back in December as a little treat to myself. It was a used 2017 GT PP, exactly what I wanted. I got to briefly take a test drive, but it was during evening traffic so I didn't really get to stretch it's legs. So now I've had the car for about 6 months and the entire time I've been dealing with a wobble in the rear end. Most on the highway at higher speeds, and really bad when hitting the gas at speed, the rear end just wobbles back and forth. It had been lowered when I purchased it, but on Ford Performance springs, which I know blows out the hubs. Long Story short, I've had the car aligned three times now and the wobble is gone, but now when on the highway any left turn is met by my right rear seemingly wanting to keep going in the same direction, making the car wobble again. Local Ford dealer replaced the rear hubs, and I still have the same issue. Any idea at this point would be awesome, thanks in advance. d

It's got to be a loose or damaged part in the IRS parts or subframe, but perhaps a bent wheel. If the car has lowering springs, I'd be looking at loose parts like upper control arm, toe link bolts etc. that weren't properly tightened when the springs got replaced. Vibration during acceleration is generally something rotational that is bad. Drive shaft issues, bent wheel, bad CV axle.

Thanks for the reply, I did have the wheels balanced at one point, I'm guessing I would've found out if they were bent then. I do think the car got hit at some point in the right rear (sketchy carfax info), so maybe you are right there is just a loose or bent component back there. I'm headed back to the dealer on Monday to see what we can come up with, wish me luck.

Check your rear wheel hubs.
Also what tires did the vehicle come with?

Are the stock half shafts still in the car? If they have been changed out to aftermarket ones that is a possible cause. Not mentioning brands but there were some issues for a while.

Yes they are, but while no accident was reported there was some damage to the right rear noted on the car fax.
