So recently I've noticed that while the shifter is in gear there is a lot of play side to side...just like if it would be in neutral. It moves almost an inch both ways. Besides that, the shifter is solid (well at least as solid as a stock unit can be) and shifts normally.
I don't recall ever seeing this before, and in fact one of my buddies mentioned how little movement there was in it unlike his that moves like crazy. So I think it just came on recently (car only has 2,000 miles).
I understand that stuff like this will happen, and I was wondering if there was anything to do short of getting a complete new shifter assembly? I've had aftermarket shifters before and while they shifted nicely they just transmitted way to much NVH back into the cabin and my car is still a DD.
I see that Barton and Steeda make some shifter brakets/bushings and new levers. Was hoping these would help, even if a little. I know it's just a bandaid, but I'm not trying to go all out here on shifters (unless there is one that is literally 99% NVH free).
