That was my plan also but the pre-delivery lady convinced me it was a simple job and they had done heaps of them before. I believed her :doh:This is why I instructed my Dealer, on several occasions, not to fit my Number Plates.
On the day of delivery, I took a Battery Drill, 3.0 mm Drill Bit and my Screwdriver kit.
It took all of 15 minutes to fit my Lakin Brackets and Number Plates.
Then drove home knowing that was one less issue to worry about.
They have used the Lakin screws so not sure if they drilled or just used a lot of force to make the screws into self tappers. One of the spacers is missing so maybe it flew off while they were driving them home at high speed. Surprised they didn't strip the hole out. Yet to get a response from them as to how this happened. We installed in both our cars ourselves. Called dealer in advance and also sent email asking to acknowledge that NOT to install plates, period.
Went with a drill and 3 mm bit and installed in 15 mins.
In your car they don't seem to pre drill the holes. They just put the plates on and tried to use the scre to drill the holes and that's why they don't line up with dimples.
Whoever installed it never read instructions and used the standard method to install them.
Since screw supplied with Larkin plates are not self drilling he must have used another screw to drill the holes instead of a drill bit. You are lucky he didn't use a bigger screw to drill the hole otherwise the screw supplied with Larkin may not even hold properly.
It would take 10-15 tops. So yes do it yourself if you can.So I should really bring my own drill and do it myself? It should take less than 30mins anyway.
He did do it and gave Hammo at Sinclair Ford in Penrith a plug saying he and his team are one of the one's who do things right. Glad I'm buying my car from him. :clap2:Philip is sending me some new spacers to sort it out. He also posted it to his Facebook page as a warning to new customers.
No new bumper idiotsNot worth the hassle if it can be resolved by other means. Too much of a risk with a possible paint matching disaster IMO.
This is what I was confronted with at delivery.
