A micro 2 fuse tap will work.
if it’s the same as the s197 i have all of it already and literally just have to run the wire and plug it in hmm

I don't think the S197 used micro 2 fuses...but I could be wrong.

You could always use a pin adapter and tap behind the mirror for ignition power. That is what I did for my radar.
Did you do this for a 15+ or a 18+, my dashcam is supposed to sit behind the rear view mirror but for the 18+ models it looks like there’s a whole bunch of safety stuff and you can’t put anything behind the rear view mirror

Guys, on my 2014, there was a mix of fuse types, see here:
https://mustangforums.com/how-tos/a...-mustang-gt-2005-2014-fuse-box-diagram-400063

on this, i used the 10a fuse for my old dash cam, which according to that page, is a regular size fuse. but the s197 has a mix of all diff types inside.

is the S550 all micro 2? or is it a mix just like the s197 was?
ive been so busy working, haven’t had a chance to get down there and pop open the panel ugh.

thanks in advance…because if i don’t hard wire it, i might just say screw it, and run the cig adapter lighter throughout the interior….but if i recall, fords keep the 12v power on constantly when the car is off, and that always worried me about battery, which is why i hardwired my s197.

Get a multimeter and figure it out. It isn't that hard. No way I would run wires to the 12V port on the dash. Tacky.

I am not sure what your worry is about the battery.

Most dash cams have a setting that will prevent draining the battery too low. If you DD, then it is of no concern.
i don’t unfortunately, she’s my 3rd really…i’ll be DD since i just got her lol but once the novelty wears off, it’s mainly my work f150. yeah i don’t think my Rove has that. i may just run it and tap off fuse 23, which everyone seems to say to do, but i don’t think my adapter will work. i think i need the micro now because mine may be a regular sized.

S550s have a mix of fuses too. Micro2 fuses work well for me and I feel like enough of them cover the non-critical circuits of our cars. All cars have a 12v constant power. That's how your keyless access and remote start work. The cigarette lighter is not on a 12v constant circuit though.

Also 10a for a dashcam sounds pretty high, are you sure that's what it came with? A fuse that's too high offers no protection.

so i opened it and fuse 23 is the micro which is smaller than the tap i have. so i just ran the 12v adapter through the headliner and a bit through the pillar and under my weathertech mat and up to the 12v adapter under the radio. it just missed being able to go into my console which sucks. but whatever.
