Hey everyone. For starters I have a Beltronics V995 radar detector and a Blackbox G1W-CB Dashcam.

A little background: I modified the power converter that would normally plug into the cigarette lighter to have two wires for power and ground come out the end and soldered those to an MTA header. I crimped an MTA header onto the 12V/Ground wires for the auto dimming mirror for power and added a 2 amp fuse onto the 5V line going to the dash cam.

My Question: I want to hard wire my Radar Detector to the same 12V/Ground wires but I'm concerned I may draw to much power through the wire. Does anyone have any experience with this or see any potential issues? Also do I need to modify the unit that plugs into the cigarette lighter like I did for the dash cam or can I just run 12V/Ground and ditch it all together?

So far my dash cam and mirror has ran flawlessly together.

Thanks for any advice y'all can give. :hail:

I haven't received my car yet, and have no clue what the fuse box looks like. I assume you are trying to avoid going to the fuse box? I don't see why grounding to the same point would be an issue, but I wouldn't run both from the same power point. That is my non-professional opinion.

I plan to run my RD and DC directly to the fuse box using these. I plan to ground both to the same point under the dash somewhere. I also bought hard wire kits for both RD and DC.
