Darn wedding ring. Help please.

Well I got married back in September, and wear my ring without thought, but today I learned a lesson. Take off the ring when cleaning car!

So I was wiping the bugs off the lower front bumper and my ring glazed a painted portion. The paint/clear coat was not broken, but it did leave an inch and a half long indention in the clear coat.

Is there anyway to repair this? Will the heat of the summer raise the intention back to the level of the surrounding paint/clear coat?

First new car since being married, I'll never wear a ring when cleaning a vehicle again. Doh. I never thought about this prior to being married, I never wore rings.:headbonk:

I did the same thing with my Mountain bike putting it in the trunk. Small scratch on the clearcoat and tried using NUFinish scratch repair, stuff doesn't work worth a shit!

I have been married 29 years and my ring has came off my hand twice. Once during surgery and the other time was Officer Candidate School. You just have to be careful.

Not sure what you mean by indention. If it didn't cut through the clear or paint, I'd try a polishing compound to try and buff out. A detailer with more experience may chime in with better idea. I've done the polish compound before on spots and small scratches with awesome results.
As far as the wedding ring. I've been married 23 years and wear my ring about ten times a year...if that. It always seems to get in the way and is just safer NOT to wear. My wife gets it...YMMV

By indention, my ring is not sharp, and did not break the clear coat seal, it just pressed it down somewhat and left an indention about 1.5 inches long you can only see in certain lights.

Scratch/indention: ------u------- the u portion is where the ring pressed/compacted the clear coat. I'll try some scratch x 2.0 but I have a feeling it may not work.
