My dad's 09 GT (4.6) is currently getting a Roush stage 1 supercharger and 3.55 gears installed. He said it'd take his car up to around 500hp.

That means my 17 GT will no longer be the faster car.

Now I plan on getting either a super charger or turbo/twin turbo and different gearing once all warranties have run out. I'd like to look at a setup in the 700-800whp range. But in the mean time is there any mods I can do to my car that'll give his a run for his money WITHOUT going forced induction just yet?

At the same time, I'd want whatever I get now to be able to be used with whatever forced induction method I choose rather than blowing the money now only having to upgrade everything in the future.

Is that realistic or would it limit me in the future as to how many hp I can build the car to? If that is the case, I'll probably just upgrade the exhaust so it sounds decent and then just wait to go FI.

Thanks

Roush stage 1 blower makes 475 crank on a 3V thats otherwise stock. You can make that with a tune/bolt ons. Hell, the 18 GT is coming stock with 460.

The 3v won't be making 500hp or anywhere near it. The "safe" limit for the 3v bottom end is generally accepted to be around 450whp. The tune will probably be conservative and put him between 400-425.

A Roush stage 1 on a 4.6L is only going to put 400-425....is that at the wheels?

Seems anorexic compared to what the 5.0 can do with forced induction.

Thanks

Well the 3V is an anorexic motor compared to the 5.0. You forget he had ~300hp stock, so 400 at the wheels is a huge bump. It'll make more torque down low than the 5.0 but simply lacks the flow for big numbers. Not to mention the motor isn't going to take that much more, the block is solid but the pistons and rods aren't going to handle the numbers a coyote can.

intake header and exhaust with pump gas tune netted me 420 whp. should be enough for a supercharged 4.6. when ya get the supercharger headers and exhaust and tuner can stay.

as mentioned proper driving and a sticky tire should pull that car. wait first and try. unless want to mod anyways. all mods except intake will stay anyways.

Intake, tune and exhaust should easily get you the win! I would run him stock so you can at least get an idea of what you can do. You should give him a good run stock.

Do ^, I have 450 Hp at the crank with Airaid tube, drop-in, SVE X-pipe. Do the BMR suspension upgrade I did you will hook too! The 3.55:1 gear I have helps as well as 18" tires.

Like beefcake said, a tune, headers, cai and intake manifold can all be re-used when you go forced induction, blower or turbo doesn't matter those items will be re used when installing your FI. I'm joking.

Not a whole lot you can do under the hood if you want to keep your warranty intact or without question.. I'd upgrade suspension and tires first, you'll definitely feel the difference in ride, good bang for the buck, plus you will have the added benefit of already having these mods in place if you decide to go FI. If it's warranty be damned, LT's, catbacks, a good tune and a CAI can get you up a solid 420-425 at the wheel.. (You are looking at around $3500 just in parts/tune without labor for the aforementioned under hood mods.)
