Lower thermostat won't help him at all, unnecessary money... At those temps the stock thermostat is already wide open. OP those temps in the head are perfectly normal. When it's midsummer hot and humid stuck in traffic 220° is perfectly normal. As said start to be concerned 230°+.
this is what I am thinking. My CHT can stay above 210F even driving at 50-60 mph for a number of miles. Maybe the Roush heat extractors would help?

Lower thermostat and turning the fans on earlier WILL help immensely. My CHT rarely goes above 200 anymore and is usually in the 190's and sometimes upper 180's.

Roush Heat Extractors won't help because your engine is running the way it should and at the temp it should. Again, 210 and 220 is normal operating range. Even 230. If you drove around all day and the temp was 210 the entire time then that is normal.

I agree that it'll lower the running temp. But it won't "help" him because nothing is wrong in the first place and from what I read he isn't running the car on the track for extended periods in high temps. It sounds more to me that he doesn't know what the operating range is and he looked at the temps, saw "210", and freaked out. These cars have all sorts of bells and whistles that'll alert you if and when a problem occurs. It'll even throw the car into a limp mode or even shut itself off. I say get it if you want it to run at a lower temp. Or even if you would just feel more comfortable with it at a lower temp for whatever reason. But his engine is running perfectly fine. I do think some of the custom tuners actually tell their customers to get a lower thermostat and they tune for it. Me personally, I wouldn't get one because I'm fine with mine being what they are. But apparently the tuners think there is some advantage to it.

isn't the stock thermostat 180F ? If CHT is 210-220F, then coolant temp should rapidly climb above 180F, with the thermostat always open.

I was just specifically posting a response to that quote that said a lower thermostat won't lower CHT temps.

The stock thermostat is 180 I believe, yes. It begins to slowly open but it does not fully open at 180. Having the fans come on lower is a big one as well. I can confirm with the 170 thermostat and fans coming on sooner that my CHT's are dramatically lower.

JDM agrees with you and has told me the same thing. It seems most people disagree though, and believe their is an advantage to having the engine run cooler.

FWIW I plan on running around with 1000rwhp and stock t-stat. I was at 800 and stock t-stat and never saw over 210 for my CHT while cruising and maybe 215 in traffic and maybe 220 WOT through the top of 5th. Stock PP cooling system, to me, is superb. I don't do road racing - maybe that would help then.

I saw CHT in the 220's with the PP. That was before summer, too.

It's been said many times the Evenflo 160 doesn't function well I wonder how the Mishimoto 160 compares to the Reische 170?

ive got the 170 t stat and see anywhere from 185-195 ish while driving around town, been doing some very spirited back road driving here lately and been seeing CHT around 215 when running hard. the t stat will help if he is tuned for it

On may way to work tonight the outside temps were 80 degrees F and my CHTs were 203-205. That is with mostly highway driving at 65+ MPH. Once I got into traffic it went up to about 207-210. In 90 degrees temps my CHTs can be 210-220. Like I said tho, not a big deal. Plus, it isn't like I would be tracking my car in this weather anyway.

What about those interested in S/C ? Having the Coyote run a bit cooler would be cool.
