I had the opportunity to test drive a Race Red Ecoboost this afternoon. It was a premium model with auto and 50th appearance package. There were 3 people in the car - me, my wife, and the salesman. As we walked up to the car, he remote started it. The first thing that I said was, "Sounds like a 4 cylinder." My wife agreed. Sorry, no pics, my phone was dead.
I was pleasantly surprised at how the car drove. The power was smooth and adequate, and quite impressive for a 4 cylinder. I wasn't thrown back in my seat, but I got up to 80 before I realized it. I thought I was doing 60. The sound of the engine in the cabin was good. The ride was quite smooth, but I'm comparing it to my 2012 Brembo Gt.
The word that keeps coming to mind about the whole experience is refined. The fit and finish was excellent, and everything felt well placed. The 50th appearance package looks great in person. I truly feel that this is a great step forward for the Mustang.
Overall, well done, Ford.
