Alright guys im planning on going to my local muffler shop and having them make me a custom down pipe for ny ecoboost as well as ordering a tune from terri / Unleaded tune maybe even order the MMR Cai some time next week. what kind of gains should I be expecting to see? Hp/tq #s and track times? I'm on a premium ecoboost with Gt premium 20s wheels if that matters? Thanks appreciate any feed back I can get

Its uncharted territory at this point. I know shops have designed DP's and test them but I've yet to see any good dyno numbers on anything with a DP and good tune.

edit... this is the only results I know of and this was all done on an off the shelf tune that was designed for a completely stock car.

Do a search for an off road pipe. We were the first to develop one, test it and tune with it. Great gains and a much nicer hp and tq curve over stock.

Also keep an eye out on Monday for a post about our WMS Off road pipe. The price is dropping and will be the lowest cost OR pipe on the market with the same high quality you would expect from us!!!!

I laugh every time I read "off road pipe"... It's a downpipe. Plain and simple.

No, it's still a downpipe. I have never heard it be called an OR pipe by any other platform or manufacturer. If its catless it makes it a catless downpipe. If its catted it makes it a catted downpipe. They are just trying to be fancy to separate their junk from the other competitors crap.

I've heard it referred to as both, but they usually claim it's an "off road pipe" so they don't get called out for selling catless jazz lol.

For example - you're at a manufacturers page... for a "downpipe."
dropdown for a cat -- there's the "off-road" downpipe... catless
there's the "high performance" cat... probably a 100 or 200-cell cat.

:p

Most manufacturers just throw in "off road" somewhere in the product description. Modifying the exhaust in any way other than OEM is illegal in most states. So actually any exhaust component could be called an "off road pipe". It's too generic of a term. Call the component what it is supposed to be called. The pipe leaving the turbo that goes to the first resonator or secondary cat is called a downpipe, regardless if its catted or not. Then there's test/race pipes, cat-back axle-back, etc.

I tend to agree honestly, but it's their choice to market it as that :)

Let's call a spade a spade and agree upon and off-road down pipe which would really cover the facts about what it is and does. I just installed the 3" ATP offroad downpipe and it fit perfect 10 out of 10 and took about 30 minutes on a jack stand.

Our lift was occupied by my 16yr old daughter's 2013 GT I am installing long tubes and Cobrajet intake setup on for her. She actually lies what I do and asks tons of questions and all her boyfriends are so "jealous". LOL

Back to the ATP install it was easy and if anyone is interested in me making a short post and write up about it let me know. I took pictures all the way through and did on the ground and it proved how easy the setup is to work on.

I have to say an H-pipe or X-pipe is much more of a harder than this. Now it did wake up the car and it sounds very clean not like an import like so many videos I have watched on the Ecoboost Mustangs that kinda turned me off.

Off to lunch BBL.

I'd love to do an install and try out your product on my Ecoboost.

Let me know if you guys are interested, I'll trade you a dual valve setup and you can do an install on that.

You should post a video up with the downpipe Joe. Are you using the stock catback?

Yes stock catback, I will do a sound clip on the way home for you guys.

It sounds very clean like a a Mini Superduty Truck when you cruise at low RPM and I put a prototype BOV on it to to get the full effect. Clean turbo spooling noise off idle and super responsive.

They may call it an offroad pipe for legal reasons. Just logical hunch.
