In this case one of my GT350's tires. Had the car out for a little cruise today. Beautiful sunny cool fall day. A road a few miles from me that's one of my favorites was closed all summer due to construction of a new housing development. They reopened it a few weeks ago and I was curious what all had been done over the summer. As I rode past the construction site I suddenly heard a tick, tick, tick from the left rear from my open window. Got home and looked at the tire to find an inch and a quarter Tapcon screw in the tire.
I slowly unscrewed it and air started leaking out, so I screwed it back in and went and got my plug kit. I pulled the screw and installed a plug for now. With winter around the corner, I'm just going to leave it till spring approaches. I was going to order another set of Race Ramp Flatstoppers for my Porsche, but now I'm just going to use the set I have for the Porsche and let the Shelby tires stay on the garage floor and replace them in spring.

I am not a fan of the Pilot Sports at all. Mainly because of the tramlining. I don't track the car, and have no intention of ever doing so. I live in northern Illinois and curvy roads are few and far between. I love the sound of the car and do get a little spirited now and then, including on the few curvy sections of road around me.

With that thought in mind, I'd appreciate input on what tires would be good replacements for the Pilot Sports. Maybe I can go a tad narrower on the front while at it to minimize the tramlining.

Check alignment. That's been a common issue.

Narrower tire will help as well.

I had continental extreme contacts on my '11 Stang, I found the road noise to be a bit obnoxious, but other than that they were pretty good tires. Just my 2 cents.

I track my GT350 so I change tires pretty regularly - probably averaging once a week through the summer. When I take the track tires off, I want a comfortable ride, no tramlining and some peace and quiet. My solution for these "just driving around" tires is a set of Michelin AS/3+'s. 275/40x19 front and 285/40x19 rear on OEM GT350 10.5" and 11" rims. Great in the rain, quiet, decent handling and the slightly taller tires keep the splitter off the ground a little better. In my view, they aren't replacements for the Pilot Super Sports, they're just an alternative at the opposite end of the spectrum from Sport Cup 2's.

Has to do with the tires being wider than usual. Odd that you are getting a lot of tramlining on Super Sports though, I would definitely check alignment. When I wore out my Cup 2's I replaced them with Super Sports in 325/30's in both the front and the back, and even though the fronts are a lot wider than the Cup 2's, my tramlining literally disappeared. Immense improvement in drivability around town and on the highway.

I keep the psi in the super sports no higher than 32. I have minimal tramlining unless it is a poor condition road, wherein nothing helps.

That stinks, and I feel your pain. I've had to replace 4 tires in the last two years due to roofing nails in my sidewall. Not on the Shelby, but on my other cars (which also have expensive tires).

~20+ year old neighborhood = lots of roof replacements in last few years. :(

Yeah, just plugged one of my wife’s tires from a roofing nail. My neighbor just replaced their wood shingle roof and I have never heard so many nails go into a roof in my life. I need an industrial magnet to run around the streets.

Guess I should clarify about the Tramlining. It's only an issue on bad roads. I had alignment confirmed shortly after getting the car and experiencing the tramlining on an old two lane blacktop that's pretty bad. My Porsche has Michelin 4S's and they are not as wide as the Shelby and they don't tramline at all regardless of road surface. I have no complaints about the stock tires that came on the Shelby other than the tramlining, just thought I'd look into trying an alternative if I'm going to get a new set.
Thanks to all that have provided input.

Yeah, definitely sucks. My neighbor just had their roof replaced and I policed the whole street from in front of their house to the end of the street, about 500 yards. Didn't find any.
In 2004 I bought a new Mach1 and on the way home I picked up a roofing nail. The tire only had 20 miles on it and I was able to find an identical replacement the next day.
