If I see a so called squirrelly mustang sitting almost on the ground with tons of bling I’m not going to look at it up close. That person doesn’t want me looking at it either. Age has nothing to do with it. There has always been people when I was 18 that had squirrely mustangs. There always will be out there with their super load exhaust and reving at every stop light. Leaving a car show and showing everyone how a squirrely mustang handles. Kind of kidding but we have all seen one or two.
True, not sure how it relates to this?

EDIT: Ok, I got it, I'm a bit slow today.

Loki, I get it. The generations of today are quite different than the ones you, and I grew up in. I guess that's the way of the world. Check out your local "Car, and Coffee" meets. If they are like the ones around my area they are packed with "Car People". The cars are what matters at those meets, not the age of the driver.

I find your post interesting. I'm 24 and I bought my gt when I was 22. People my age and younger give me the dirtiest looks and make snarky comments all the time . One time while sitting at a light outside a high school I had one kid who made eye contact with me the entire time he was in the cross walk. He then gave me the finger. I couldn't help but laugh.

Then I meet guys older than me and they are super polite and excited to talk about the car. Sometimes I really feel like i was born in the wrong generation.
Coolman, jealousy runs deep among many that haven't worked hard to own a car like you have. Phuck 'em, you don't owe them anything. You earned it, so enjoy your success.

Agreed, I could care less about age. There won't be a cars and coffee I can attend until May, the April 28th one I can't go to because my Niece just gave birth to an awesome daughter.

I am going to look up some of the cruise's mentioned earlier as well.

I read some of the demographic statss for new GTs and it was something like male, 50+, $100K+. I'm at least under the age demo. :)

I don't doubt that at all. At the price of these things today, they are getting really close to the Corvette demographics.

Caliber Coffee, every Sunday 8am to 10am, the Arboretum of South Barrington. Well behaved crowd and lots of big money cars. Lots of stuff you'd like but can't afford. :D

That’s why dealers in Canada never bother to stock the base GT. I was going to just buy that since I had not bought anything other than V8. My 85 year old dad has a Buick Enclave and that’s the first V6 the family ever had. Anyway I balked at paying nearly double the price for a loaded V8 so I bought a base V6 through fleet sales. Otherwise I would have bought the base Stingray. But I can’t DD the Corvette so it had to be the V6. The Corvette is coming but we shall see where the engine will sit as I always wanted one upfront.

Looks like the GT is following and becoming the old fart’s car increasing in cost and luxury as the demographic dies off. Advertising that brags about “enter and exit with dignity” or “magic fingers with upgraded heated and cooled seats” - Please NO!

cruising was big around where I live in the 80's.. I used to carry a mini arsenal to collect money from deadbeats that wouldn't pay after I risked jailtime to race, I was on high risk insurance until I was 35, which was almost equal to a car payment ...I was scared of the older street racers back then, they had more money, and it takes zero muscles to push a pedal down..I depend on my drivers license now and don't indulge....much...many many old dudes like me are in the money at the drag strip, and it attracts the youngins too ...nice when they come up and chat I've made a lot of friends there, as opposed to the street.

Really? Giving you the finger? What did you do before? I am not doubting you, that is just really odd. But then again I can actually believe it with a full generation of kids raised to hate success or wealth by their teachers/professors.

As to the OP: I'm 30 and a skinny toothpick so me driving my Mustang does look odd, but I never had issues with older people they were always interested in looking at my car and what I have done to it. I always try to be nice.

I never do ricer flybys, I do like to race almost anything because my Mustang isn't my daily driver so I really only drive it for fun. As for car meets it really depends on the car meet and its totally random atmosphere, I have to agree sometimes, because I was going to meets ever once in awhile through 2005-2010. I drove just my Pontiac G6 back then so I was just curious about other peoples cars. Sometimes you will go to one that is a joke and no one really actually knows about cars they just put exhaust and intake and think they are Paul Walker. While others seemed to actually take an interest in your car or will be more than willing to show you what they've done to theirs. It's still kind of like that today.

As for people talking crap that is to be expected, I have met a lot of rude Mustang owners and many times it was when I was driving my Mustang. The Cars and Coffee videos/meme's have put a big dent in the Mustang reputation thanks to idiots who can't drive them.

This was the cruise yesterday in Canton GA. All makes and years..... young and old people all mixing together for one purpose. CARS.
That’s my 07 SGT #0016 with less then 3000 miles on her.
My all time favorite car when I was 13 a 1962 Pontiac Grand Prix with tri-power 389 cu. 4 speed. That’s before mustang was born and GTO/muscle cars were on the planet.
Another poncho.....1963 Catalina super light weight 421 with tri-power. Rare car today. That’s why these cruises are fun you see stuff that’s different. Not the same old shoe box 55,56,57 Chevys or 68’69 camaro’s seen that done that.

Last time I was at Strats was about 4 years ago and I'll never go back. It's just a bunch of HS kids with shitboxes. A lot of them drink in the parking lot and then proceed to do stupid shit. No thanks!

Rolling Meadows Friday nights, cars and coffee at the Barrington Arboretum, Supercar Saturday's, and the downtown Barrington Thursday night cruises are all more in line to what you're looking for. Augustino's is also a good one but very small lot.
