It's ultimately Ford's / Dealer's car until you pay for it. Don't feel too bad for them because it's likely to be insurance that pays for it (dealer's or the punter with the L & R on his wellies the wrong way round)

Just go with your gut instinct. If you feel you wouldn't be happy with a repair then don't accept it.

Absolutely gutted for you mate,:( but I wouldn't make a decision without seeing and knowing the extent of the damage. If superficial/minor panel damage only, which would be expected, I would then consider what incentives they're offering and would want to inspect the quality of the finished job and who/where it will be done before accepting the car. Also would want to know the timescales in getting a fresh car as an alternative.

Pics as promised. Doesn't look too bad so checking in person. Dealer has been very upfront so can't fault them. panels will be shipped pre painted so less concerned about paint match and rust

Damage doesn't look too bad, but you've got to be happy with any repair and I'd be certainly pushing for some compensation. Alternatively is it worth asking if there's any same spec racing red cancelled ordered around or coming if your not happy with a repair job?

Mmm, I actually think they're partly responsible.....it's a brand new car, hard to get hold of, customer has waited ages, and they see fit to shove it in the car park where anything can (and did) happen

The car should have been stored in a safe area, until they were ready to start the prep process.

Seen the damage now. Nothing structural but a new wing and door are needed. I'm now told parts aren't painted on the production line and would be sprayed locally. After previous repairs that have aged differently to the rest of the car I'm opting for a replacement vehicle. I've waited this long and my order spec isn't unusual so with luck a replacement will be achievable by the might of the U.K. Dealer network on the case. Gives me chance to save a bit more deposit. If however the network can get the parts sprayed on the production line and air freighted over I would probably accept as it looks like an uber simple bolt on job.

There's absolutely zero chance I would buy a "new" wrecked car.

Aftermarket paint repair always looks like paint repair. And even if you're one of those people who are half blind and can barely tell the repair is there now... in two years you'll be mad at yourself for accepting the repair once the repaired area starts to fade or peel.

Customs Exotics done my mates Mustang, 2 front wings and the front, had to be replaced was also Candy Paint, so a total pain to match up

Everybody is different so you can only do what you're comfortable with. Fair play to the dealer for be honest though.

As for getting the production line to spray the parts I wouldn't get too hung up on that idea. The Mustang is by a country mile the most poorly assembled car I've ever seen. Panel alignment all over the shop, shoddy paint repairs, bits in the paint of repairs etc etc. I've yet to see a Mustang that doesn't have some sort of bodywork issue and I've viewed over 10 now in the flesh.

All I'm saying is if you cannot wait then take the car repaired as I'd hazard a guess our body shop's QC over here is a damn site better than that Stateside.

Or if you do opt to order a new vehicle then I'd swap my colour to Grabber Blue like [MENTION=21724]Tacklebury[/MENTION] - cus that's one Badass looking Mustang!

Evans Halshaw have been great and I spoke direct with Stacey today who confirmed a replacement car would be prioritised in the October batch of RHD builds. Fingers crossed it will be here by Christmas this time round.

Lot of advice on here. Only thing I might add is whatever you choose to do, consider looking to agree (and confirm in writing) specific dates for completion and specific actions and consequences if those dates are not hit. Ford's reputation on such things is laid somewhat bare all over this forum. Good luck with it.

Yeah I'm sticking with exactly the same build. I'm not a grabber fan personally and the only other colours that appeals from the current pallet are magnetic and ruby, but every time I look at them side by ride with race red I go back to the brighter colour under our cloudy uk skies.
Now if they could do me one in orange I would be all over it!!!
