Any idea why IIHS does not crash test the 2015 Mustang?
If they do they dont post any pics of vids.
Its got 5 star crash rating but i dont think it means much.
Ive seen some cars with 5 stars pancake in the small overlap teat.
I know its kind of a sports car/ enthusiast car thats not sold or advertised for its safety but dont you guys think its still important?
I mean if you track it and crash it safety is important. Right?

crash test

Any idea why there is no small overlap crash test? (IIHS)
The link has side, frontal and pole. I dont think I have seen a new car fail full frontal or side impact. They are all built very well for that.
The small offset seems to be the test to pass these days. Most deadly crash as well.

The IIHS did test the S197s. I'm looking forward to the S550 going through the battery of IIHS test, mainly the small overlap test.

I personally think its gonna do bad at small overlap crashing. I noticed there want much of a support frame when I swapped out my intake for a CAI.

Exactly how much safety do you want built into the car? Do you assume it's a less safe car the any other comparably priced sports car on the market? Not sure where your going with this thread? If safety is your first and primary concern. A Volvo wagon is probably more suited to your needs.

I do not drive in Mexico much any more and the Nurbergring is in Germany so I am pretty sure we will be SAFE enough upon our roads and Highways as long as we do not exceed the posted safe operating speeds .. I pretty much stay with in a reasonable amount over any given limit and always look for that Goofie balling idiot that just has to drive with a cell phone glued to a hand yappen away while driving a brand new ecobox with bluetooth capabilities , but for some uneducated guess they would rather endanger others than pick up the owners manual and pair the freaggin cell phone .. so look out for trucks too ............... and stay with in your own comfort zone while driving ..........

Why is it either/or? I want fun and safety. I watched the available S550 crash videos and I was very impressed by them so felt comfortable upgrading. If they had been awful I probably would have waited for updates.

I think a safer car would be stiffer. Therefore, a better handling car.
I think sports cars should emphasize more on safety sometimes then a Volvo station wagon.
Im not saying were driving race cars that need roll cages and helmets.
But I think that most of us can agree we bought a Mustang for spirited driving and that you will more likely get you in trouble than not.
More power = more chance of doing something stupid PERIOD.

Its kinda like balancing a car. Why do we need bigger better brakes? Because we go faster and need to stop faster consistently.
