Crank sprocket breakage

I have seen several post on oil pump gears breaking and the assumed causes for them failing. How many crank sprockets have failed and what are the root cause of them breaking?

They are cast just like the OPG's. I replaced both at the same time because that is what Boostworks and Beefcake recommended.

Thanks and understood, just wondering how many broken crank sprockets out there have happened. Also because they are doing different things I would guess breakage cause would differ.

If you go in for a oil pump gear change, spend a little extra and change both. Could save you thousands down the road.
