thank you for the insight Deysha. I am new to Ford. Does "use and/or exposure to the elements" include rock chips? From my experience with other manufacturers, that has always been considered outside influence and any claim denied coverage. This would be very useful information to me and others on the boards, I am sure as rock chips are quite common!
Right, it does not include rock chips or any other outside source, robertwsimpson.

Thanks, Deysha. I'm out of warranty on mileage, though  Been loving the car way too much to keep it parked for long :ford:
You’re very welcome, ElAviator72! There’s nothing wrong with you enjoying your amazing ride.

Deysha

I got my insurance renewal in the mail today. I noticed on my (abridged) policy renewal that it said to contact Safelite for windshield repair (no mention of the deductible...double bummer since I now appear to have no local insurance agent! The last one quit...). Need to find a full copy of my policy to find out what the deductible for a windshield repair is...I have a $500 collision deductible. It's after work hours now where my insurance company is headquartered (Illinois).

So I punched in everything online, and I've been railroad-tracked into a replacement appointment on Jan 12th. I chose to take it to them, which is cool since they're only about 10 blocks away from my work.

I chose the sound proof solar glass with the Ford logo in the visor gap (no rain sensor, as my car doesn't have auto wipers)-anyone know if this an actual OEM windshield or if this is an aftermarket knock off?

EDIT: found out when Safelite called me that my windshield deductible is only $250 :headbang:

Should be the real deal. I have the aftermarket sound proof solar glass through Safelite. Made by Pilkington...my understanding is they produce most of the auto glass around, no problems yet...they did a good job on the install.

Yeah, I was looking at the windshield that's on there (from the factory), and I believe the manufacturer is Carlite...does yours have the large Ford logo (in the space between the visors) on it?

Carlite would be what comes from the factory. My Pilkington glass doesn't have the Ford logo, not worth a few hundred dollars to me.

If insurance is covering it, I'd go Carlite.

Got a confirmation from the Safelite people today that they have to order an OEM windshield from Ford to satisfy my insurance claim
